Last week the belt (steering and generator) went out for second time during last two years. Almost had broken my hand trying to steer into the turn...

Now I can choose between Lexus is250 and this MB CLS, most probably will go with Lexus. Much less problems and headaches. Of course it does not have the effect MB does. But always will be waiting for something to go wrong, it's not for me...

PS I drove a lot of different cars (Opel, Audi, Ford), but never had so many problems... It looks that nowadays it's only prestige that is left with the MB badge.

Hmm. I test drove a 2006 CLS 350 last week and I'd say this is the best driving car I've ever driven. It's a real head turner, even 4 years old. People are coming over asking what kind of car this is and telling me how cool it looks.

This car rides on a modified E class platform but you wouldn't have guessed, even if this didn't have the air ride suspension that I've heard is even smoother. Haven driven E class several times, I'd say the CLS is more S class territory in driving experience. More plush and better sound insulation. But I've read in several places that this car has some annoying faults, and this is so far prohibiting me to purchase.

Does anyone know what kind of problems are common on this car? I tried to talk to a MB specialist, but since the CLS is sold in few examples, he didn't have much experience with this particular car model. I've read that the complex air ride system can be troublesome, but the cars I've looked at didn't have this option.

Any other trouble spots?

I have had my 2007 CLS for 6 months. I have had no problems at all, and I drive 2000 miles per month. I love the car. I had a 2008 Audi A6 2.7 TDI Le Mans before this car, and the difference is unbelievable. Quicker, more refined, smoother ride, more efficient and certainly more beautiful.

Buy one, you won't regret it.
