1997 Nissan 200SX Touring review from UK and Ireland

Worn bushes, rear shocks needed replacing - but consistent with age and to be expected around the mileage they were changed.

Fantastically reliable (even with upgraded power/suspension/braking modifications).

Fantastic economy for the power (25mpg-ish/280bhp). Cheap running costs (between £60-£200 a year).

Great handling. and that X factor that just makes you/it feel special every time you drive it. Rarer than an M3, but similar performance once tinkered with and better looking :)

The only drawbacks I would say of this car is that is the handling, it's not bad as standard and very comfortable, but it feels like a boat - once upgraded the handling transforms but at the expense of noise and comfort.

The other thing is general noise, they can get noisy when modifying from standard due to lack of sound deadening, but deadening it yourself does help...

Also, not so much a drawback, but something to watch out for is that it is of course a sports car and as a result practicality is affected, don't expect a full size boot (although its not exactly small) and don't expect lots of legroom in the back with the 2+2 layout...

I guess they look a little clumsy as standard too, but once you get rid of the silly offset standard wheels and skinny tyres it starts to look like a proper sports car..

But believe me, if you can live with the minor drawbacks you will absolutely love this car - it's nothing like a run of the mill 3series/MR2/Celica etc.
