1989 Nissan 240SX SX 2.4 Liter from North America

Summary:

Fast, Reliable, Pretty... simply the best car I've ever driven

Faults:

I bought it knowing it was a fixer-upper for $1000.

Turned out one of the spark plug wires wasn't even attached.

It was fixed and it runs like a dream now.

Seat was broken when I got it. Got a new one for cheap.

Cost a total of $1700 with all repairs

Since initial repairs no problems

Paint is chipping.

General Comments:

I absolutely love this car.

It has got a lot of miles on it right now, but I think it'll be good for another 30-40k at least. The car is seriously fast for a 4 cylinder and it turns on a dime. Definitely the most fun I've ever had driving a car. There is a backseat, but sitting there is certainly way to uncomfortable for an average sized adult, but its nice to have. I'd recommend this car to any student looking for a cheap, fun, and reliable car.

1989 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L from North America

Summary:

A timeless sports car

Faults:

Power Window Pulley Broken 250$ (replaced whole part)

Exhaust whole thing. (header back) 450$

Timing chain general check up (this is scary) $1000 that's if it doesn't break up into your engine.

General Comments:

Yes great handling, power, style interior and exterior, but id sell it cause the timing chain is way way too expensive to fix. Excellent Project Car.

So that's probably why I'm going to keep it for a while.

I plan to buy another 240sx but a 97-98 SE.

1989 Nissan 240SX Hatchback 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Fits like a glove

Faults:

When I bought the car, it needed a new water pump, alternator, shocks, fuel injectors, and tires.

About six months ago, I was leaning back on my seat and it just gave-way. My uncles 240 he bought brand new did the same thing so did my father-in-laws'.

General Comments:

This car if SERIOUSLY fast for a 4 cylinder.

I got horrible gas mileage though, about 18 mpg. I attribute this to the age of the engine and my lead-foot:)

The handling is better than any car I've ever driven.

I was it was a BIT bigger.

1989 Nissan 240SX Fastback 2.4 from North America

Summary:

A bargain and a half

Faults:

The battery died on account of my sound system.

The stud broke off of my rear axle.

The strut mounts broke.

General Comments:

This car is very good for a short run or race. Never race a Ford Mustang V-6 in it; you will lose.

This car handles very good and does impressive donuts after first gear red lines and you go to second.

No trunk space; two fifteen inch speakers take up all the space.

Great car. Has never given me any problems for the 4 years of owning it. Just the usual maintenance problems like water pump and stuff.

You will lose LOL!

1989 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L 12V from North America

Summary:

A bang for your buck

Faults:

The transmission is going out as I speak, it is slipping a great deal, mostly because I power shifted it.

The exhaust that was on the car when I bought it was terrible, but an aftermarket exhaust made it a great deal better.

Head Gasket is leaking oil, yet to be fixed.

Right rear A-frame and lower control arm somehow got bent, but dosen't seem to be causing any problems, besides abnormal tire wear.

General Comments:

This car has the best handling I've ever seen. It responds quickly, and hugs turns, as if it were glued to the road.

The cabin couldn't be better. The radio and pocket underneath are in perfect position. The overall look of the cabin is amazing.

This car is a force to be reckoned with, if it came stock with a turbocharger, it would be unstoppable. Or if an aftermarket one was made.

This car never quits, even with the transmission slipping, it still runs strong enough to beat those little Civics, Talons, and Eclipses. Thank you Nissan for providing me with such a great high school car.
