1989 Nissan 240SX SX 2.4 liter from North America

Summary:

Fun little coupe

Faults:

Has a problem with overheating. I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong.

Power windows didn't work when I got it.

Trunk didn't open when I got it.

General Comments:

I bought this car at an auction for a bid of $375. It seems to run well, but I need to put a little money into it and fix a few things. This is a fun car to drive, especially around the curves. I expected it to get better gas mileage, it is not a whole lot better than my 84 olds delta 88. This car has a lot of miles, but it seems to be running good. I would recommend this car to anyone. The interior is not very roomy, especially to someone that is 6'8". But not very many cars are.

1989 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4 from North America

Summary:

Good, low cost, and hard to mess up tuner

Faults:

I had to replace a wheel hub after the bolts had stripped out. I also had to replace the front shocks. No engine problems ever, all problems this car had I made...

General Comments:

Best car you can buy for under $3k. If you find one that looks nice buy it. It will be mechanically perfect... These cars will run forever! I regret selling this car. Plus these cars have many upgrades from Japan that make them very popular to modify. I like this car as much as my 2g moded Eclipse. 240SX SE's will kill any honda they pull up to. They corner better than any BMW or Porshe (better than my moded Eclipse...) that I have driven. This is not a fast car only a quick car... The car will top out somewhere near 115 mph. But it has power all the way there.

1989 Nissan 240SX 2.4 from North America

Summary:

Judge a book by it's cover and you'll get laid every time

Faults:

Alternator had to be replaced under extended warranty at approximately 60k.

Rust under the doors at 100k in Canada.

Various annoying noises from 80k.

Stereo died at around 60k.

General Comments:

I love the car's looks, but it seriously lacks get up and go. I always felt that at one point Nissan planned to offer the Maxima V6 as an option on the 240. The engine mounts have got to be close, No? With that in mind could it be all that difficult to drop a V6 into a 240? Has anyone done this? Not that I have heard.

Handles wonderfully.

Shift throws are too long.

Essentially a two seater with great trunk space.

600+ hp.. Ka24de-t will not produce that much hp unless you do some serious block work. And for 3k you can't...!

1989 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Overall great car..

Faults:

Timing chain needed replacing.

Tension rod bushings were blown, replaced.

Power antenna not working.

Brake pads needed replacing.

General Comments:

An awesome performing car. Great handling, good looks, a lot of potential. Considering you can get a 240SX relatively cheap nowadays, this car is definitely worth every penny. Overall, car has been very solid and reliable for the short time I've owned it.

1989 Nissan 240SX Hatchback 2.4L 4 cylinder gas from North America

Summary:

Reliable sporty car

Faults:

Rear spoiler rusted off.

Exhaust system had to be frequently replaced.

Power Rear Antenna long since gone.

Power steering pump died, leaked fluid onto alternator which died as well.

Frame completely rusted (that's the Canadian Winter's fault, and not really the car though).

General Comments:

I have had a few issues with this car, but in reality it has been a very solid, very reliable car.

The rear seats are so tiny they are practically useless, but the rear trunk in the hatchback is very large and easily accessible.

The power doesn't seem to be enough for the car, but the handling is excellent.

All in all, I am extremely happy with this car and it has been almost 100% reliable, no engine work at > 300kms is amazing.
