I recently purchased a 300zx Convertible and love it. I had the same problem as someone had mentioned with the back rails of the convertible top being snapped. I have not been able to find anything yet (it's only been 3 weeks). If anyone has an idea for me please let me know. My e-mail address is dkoch_81@yahoo.com.

Thanks.

OK, I realize this is off the topic, but does anyone have a clue where I can get a windshield for my 94 300zx convertible? Apparently it was cracked when I picked it up from the man I purchased it from, and I figured well it's an amazing car, a windshield shouldn't be anything. So I quoted it from Nissan and they say it's a factory part and it's $997, so I really don't wanna pay a grand for a windshield. Anyone got any ideas? Or know anyone with a Z convertible for parts?

Hi, just bought myself a 300zx convertible and I need to replace the soft top. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some instructions on how to do this? Joe (from the UK)

Windshields should be replaced free under your car insurance.

I went to Philadelphia once and there is rows upon rows of different junkyards along Essington Avenue, and they all share over a main radio to every yard with the parts you need. If they don't have it, another yard listens and asks to send you to them instead. They all help one another and move more used parts that way. I suspect any major city has this. I once broke one of my T Tops in my 280ZX and found a used one that way same day.

I have a '93 Z32 convertible - great car! I needed a new fabric top, and researched for several weeks before I bought one from the Convertible Top Guys - excellent fit finish and quality!

These cars are fantastic!

Does anyone know where I can purchase a windshield for my 1993-1996 front windshield?! My insurance company are willing to pay all costs, but according to Nissan, the windshield is no longer manufactured! Therefore, it is no longer available. It would be much appreciated if someone would e mail me at gkenaan@gmail.com with any solution.

I have a 1993 Nissan 300ZX convertible with a slow start issue, from 0-20kms/hr, it seems sluggish as if fuel is restricted. I replaced the fuel filter but no improvement, at highway speeds, it works awesome. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you for your comments on the windshield for my 300zx convertible. I need to convince my insurance company with the replacement.

Trying to find a replacement windshield for my 1994 300 ZX convertible... Any ideas where I can find one?

I have an 1994 300ZX Convertible with 40k miles on it. Took it out of the garage to put the top down, and noticed the two steel bars on each side have broken, not sure when, but I'm unable to find them at dealership. Can anyone help with a part? If not a part, anyone know where I can buy a whole new folding-top frame for it?

Thanks

I had a 93 300ZX convertible for 13 years; just sold it after putting in a new ignition something, new radiator, and rebuilt transmission because I didn't feel that I could depend on it when the heating system started leaking. After 152,000 miles, it was getting tired, but I DO MISS IT! It was fun to drive, and people would ask me at stop signs and lights if I wanted to sell it. Definitely unique and fun.

Hi, congrats on a great car! I have the same car and the same problem, only my top blew open and dented my trunk and nearly caved in my skull. U.S. dealers in my area are useless and told me that not only do they not have the rails, but that no repair kit exists, and I would have to buy the entire frame for $6500. I then decided that I would have a machine shop repair my broken parts. After repairing the rails, I found out that South London Nissan in Canada had repair kits (all four pieces) or the rails for $150, and of course I bought them. The phone # is 519-685-6632. Good luck.

I understand they are no longer made!! I had one glass guy tell me the windshield from the coop would work... I'm trying to confirm that.

Hello, I am looking to replace my convertible top. Is this something that I can do myself? Thanks! Paul.

I went through the same thing trying to find a OEM windshield a couple of years ago. I ended up using a coupe windshield, and it worked fine. See also --

Sounds like a fuel injector problem. You have 6 of them, and to replace them by a qualified mechanic, they will cost $500 - $800 each. Try "Shell Hi-test Premium fuel" for about 2-3 months. I had the same issue, and it cured the problem.

I have a 1993 convertible also. I had the darn top flip on me while I was on the interstate. It simply flipped back and broke the side frame. Please let me know if you get any help with yours, and where I might get mine fixed also? Thanks, William. My email is wrabiii@hotmail.com.

Hey fellow Nissan lover! I had the same problem with my top flying off. Can you send me the part numbers and any other info I may need to fix this properly. What is the name of that dealership? I haven't done anything to the car since this has happened. Been actually aggravated a good while over this. Thanks for your help and advice, William. My email is wrabiii@hotmail.com.

Just saw all the instances of this happening to 1993 300ZX convertibles... Mine just happened today... I guess I need now to believe my niece that she had both sides latched down. Any suggestions on repair or replace? Craig.

29th May 2013, 12:27

I have the same problem. Did you ever find the parts? I was told by a person at Nissan that the problem stems from the fact that Nissan never made a convertible 300ZX. They were conversions done by sub contractors. You will note that the parts numbers do not follow Nissan nomenclature. Any info on parts availability would be appreciated.

5th Jun 2013, 12:58

The person from the dealer who told you that is not correct. Nissan made the convertibles from 1993 until 1996. In the earlier years, there was an aftermarket company who did make a few of them. You can get the rails welded, or find another frame with good center rails.

I also had the same thing happen to me while driving my 1993 Nissan Z convertible... I'm going to try to take it to a welder to fix... Please let me know if you think of a better idea!
