2001 Nissan Altima GXE 4 Cylinder from North America

Summary:

I could give it a higher rating if only the transmission didn't need replacing at 66,000 miles

Faults:

The transmission needed to be replaced at 66,000 miles.

Exterior paint scratched up.

General Comments:

The car is quiet, but the seals around the doors are loose, making the car noisier at higher speeds.

The suspension feels a little bumpy and makes squeaking noises if I'm listening really close. Maybe it's not oiled well?

Acceleration/power is adequate, but not particularly fast or peppy or strong. It's no Mazda.

Well I own myself an Altima too and the only problem that I have is that I had to replace the 3 way catalytic converter and the 4 oxygen senors NOT CHEAP...

If you had to replace the transmission at 66,000 miles proper care was not done (changing transmission fluid)

The had to change the fan belt and right I need to replace the left front axle boot because it's leaking otherwise so far this car is awesome, I just came from a road trip down in mexico, it behaved well driving down the Yuma desert on my way back.

2001 Nissan Altima GXE 2.4 Twin Cam from North America

Summary:

Reliable car, but local dealer questionable

Faults:

Wind noise at highway speed around front drivers and passengers windows.

Took to dealer (where I bought it) who did nothing except to inform me that the cause of the noise was the mirrors!! Give me a break.

Rear carpet came apart from under the door panel.

Rough riding on all, but the smoothest of roads.

Uses more gas than one would expect for a 4 cylinder.

Other than that the thing is bulletproof!

General Comments:

Excellent car overall, good for someone who just wants a car with low maintenance.

Put over 90,000kms on it with the original brakes, exhaust, front end, even lights.

Good power and never uses oil.

Highly recommend the car.

Dealer service not the best. They even called me just before the warranty ran out, but still refused to deal with the cabin noise! Maybe it's a common problem.

2001 Nissan Altima GXE-limited edition 2.4L I-4 (KA24DE) from North America

Summary:

Excellent value, good car

Faults:

Nothing. The window regulators were replaced for free by dealer when we went in to get a key duplicate, very satisfied by service department because we didn't know they needed replacement. There was some condensation in the headlight and a blown speaker. Carmax replaced both for free.

General Comments:

This car is great. It's my first car. It's used as my school car. It starts up first time always. The interior is nice, good quality materials, and pretty roomy given the size of the car. The exterior is fine, normal car.

Engine: good pep and low RPM torque. Sounds nice above 3500 RPM.

The transmission (mine is an auto) could use some taller gearing because at 65 mph it's turning between 2600-2900RPM depending on its mood.

There is a little wind noise at high speeds.

Big trunk.

Mine came with a custom stereo and additional 6-CD changer

Overall great car. 9/10.

Yeah I noticed the same thing on my '01 with the gearing that's too low, I mean at highway speed in OD its close to 3000 rpm! I read in a lemonaid book that the 2001 is geared lower than the 2000, just why they did it beats me. No wonder it eats gas. Other than that its low maintenance.

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima GXE, LE and love it. Great gas mileage, very comfortable ride and very, very dependable car. I have no problems at all... still enjoy driving it as much as the day I bought it slightly used.

2001 Nissan Altima GXE from North America

Summary:

A bang for your buck!!!

Faults:

Window regulator replaced. However I got a letter saying that Nissan will replace all regulators in certain states. I live in Texas. This is applicable in several states and does not matter if you have warranty coverage or not. Love Nissan!!!

General Comments:

I feel safe and know I will buy another Altima in the future!
