2004 Nissan Platina K 1.6 from Mexico

Summary:

This car really flies! taking care that the engine is 1.6 Lt!!

Faults:

I bought this car brand new at the Nissan agency and what I am about to tell, has happen to me about 20 or 25 times in 1500 kilometers odometer display.

When driving at normal conditions and stop in a red light, the engine remains accelerated at 3000 or 3500 revolutions per minute after I left the accelerating pedal, I need to hit the pedal one time so the engine goes normal again.

I also need to tell you that I have not send it to guaranty since its the only car I have and I have no chance to left it at guaranty yet, because it will take more than 2 days to repair it.

I will let you know after I left it to fix it and if they tell me what happened I will share it with you.

General Comments:

I think this will not be a big issue, and it will be solved after guaranty fix, but I do not like the accelerating engine with out pushing the pedal in red lights.

All out of it, I really like this car!

2002 Nissan Platina Q 1.6 c.c. twin cam valve from Mexico

Summary:

From 0 to 100 in less than 10 price less that $9,000 us

Faults:

The NISSAN Platina it's a RENAULT CLIO only distributed by NISSAN in MEXICO.

Driving from Mexico City to Hermosillo Sonora at sea level altitude the car started to fail like every four hours it started to shake sometimes one time it did stop, but I started the car again and I went back to mexico city.

When I came back to Mexico City I haven't had any problees what soever.

General Comments:

It can easily reach 200 KMS per hour and more! and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kms in less than 9 seconds.

The suspension and the altitude of the car is great for Mexico City!. (we have so many speed bumps and holes on the road, that it's better to drive down here an SUV).

The trunk is huge for a small car.

Got my Platina 2002 with 38000 kms for $3700 USD in 2009. It has 45000 kms now.

Previous owner changed 3 coils 4 years ago after an engine wash.

Front brake pads at 38000 kms.

I replaced timing belt and water pump at 41000 kms.

Right side engine support broken at 42000.

Speedometer dies randomly, mainly going down long hills.

Clips of the rear safety belts broken when I pulled the seat to reach the trunk.

Otherwise, it is a very comfortable car, not noisy, big trunk, nice seat height, enough power with low gas expenses.

Not very nice in curves, bad CD/radio sound.

Just wondering what it was doing after the engine wash that you had to replace the coils?

2003 Nissan Platina K Plus 1.6 gasoline from Mexico

Summary:

Very pleased with it

Faults:

Nothing much, but it is less than one year old.

General Comments:

This is a very good little sedan, even if it looks a little odd.

It rides very smoothly and is comfortable for two people, but there is not much room in the back.

Quick for a 1.6 engine. It is fun to drive.

It has a big trunk for a small car.

Panels are a bit thin and could dent easily.

I heard a lot that every 3 years you have to change the timing belt and some others things, and it's very expensive, I would not buy a Platina, sorry.
