2012 Nissan Qashqai Acenta 2WD 1.5 dCi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Boring, dull, unreliable

Faults:

Lot's, typical diesel faults, DPF, lumpy acceleration, injectors, etc, you name it. Expensive and troublesome. Eventually all sorted out, but the car was off the road for weeks at a time and I just do not think it is worth the repair costs. The car was purchased used from a reputable dealer with full history and looked after. I also serviced the car on time and drove correctly, but the car still had all these common faults.

General Comments:

This was a forced purchase due to needing a more modern bigger family car, otherwise I would not have bought this car. In general I have not enjoyed my time with this even when it was running OK - it is a typical modern crossover that does not know what it wants to be (mini SUV or large family car?) and just does not really work well, I will never understand the popularity of these things.

On the plus side it is a spacious family car, not bad to drive (if a bit slow), but you'll get 50 mpg most of the time, and it is comfortable.

A mate of mine has a Nissan Juke and has had similar problems. Nissan are not what they once were. I had a 1998 Primera 2.0 before this car, which yes I was using right up until 2018, it had 180K on it and was one of the best cars I ever had; not many post year 2000 Nissan's will hold that acclaim.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I believe Nissan's problems started when they partnered up with Renault; not a brand known for reliability (here in Australia at least). Your car has a Renault engine and all diesel-engined Nissan's sold here use Renault engines now.

Indeed, Nissan's future doesn't look too good. Korean competition and a lack of general quality control will force Nissan to end up like Mitsubishi.

Agreed. I read much about it but still ask, what on earth happened to Nissan? When I was growing up, Nissan and Toyota were rivals and pretty much equals. If anything, Nissan (to my eyes) were just a little different, kind of sophisticated even, like for like, vs. equivalent Toyotas. Now, never mind being bland, they aren't even anywhere near as reliable as Toyotas or Suzukis - I dare say Mitsubishis (that's another matter altogether).
