Car started hard, idled rough or stalled at low speed. Crankshaft sensor was replaced by dealer at 64,000 miles, but car still idles rough.
Passenger power window is sticking sometimes. Passenger door trim keeps coming off. Dealer replaced clips on trim but it still comes off. I am ready to Krazy glue it on permanently.
Radio amplifier went out at 55,000 miles.
Car uses 1 Qt. of oil every 1,000 miles. I thought it was just a problem with our car, but after reading reviews, I am not going crazy.
When under sharp turning conditions there is a clunking noise coming from the front end, I'm waiting for the wheel or something else to come off.
Overall I love this cars great looks, handling and acceleration. Great Bose sound system.
If you have the 3.5Liter DOHC V6 Shortstar Caddie engine it is going to use oil about 1Quart between changes if you baby it. These engines are built for high output and since the cylinder walls are stoned differently more oil it provided. I have found with these as well as the V8 engines found in the aurora as well as caddie engines that every once it a while about every month or so you will want to hot rod it or floor it from a stop light to get that tach up to about 5000rpm this will clean out anything in the cylinder walls and will keep the oil life up. When you baby these engine they tend to use more oil. I think you can find more on this topic at www.caddilacforums.com.
My intrigue uses oil too!
The place I take it for oil changes said that this type of engine uses the oil.
The clunking is most likely the CV-joints. Normal wear and tear...
Roding the 3.5 is true. Run the RPM up every now and then and you will lose NO oil. I have 92000k (57500 miles) and use no oil. The knock at low speed turning can be intermediate shaft. Common problem. I must say the the cars built for Canada must have been built better cuz my self and others I know with one just don't have all the problems that you U.S. owners seem to have.
