1992 Peugeot 106 XSi review from UK and Ireland

"Surprisingly quick and cheap to run"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Radiator burst. Car is on its third radiator (previous owner had one go). This was a result of there being no grille covering the lower half of the radiator, meaning after a few years hard driving, it becomes bashed in from stones, etc.

N/s drive arm replaced at 110,000 miles.

Rain leaks in cabin. One was from where a cable enters the rear passenger footwell and was fixed with lots of window sealant.

Dodgy remote transponder. Car has been known to unlock itself when I'm walking away.

Advice. Don't bother with Peugeot dealers, except for their fixed price brakes/ exhausts (cheaper than Kwik-Fit). They are v. expensive (labour £60 p/h) but are good for advice.

General comments?

This is a fantastic little motor.

It handles country roads well. The steering (non power assist) is always spot on and it handles like a go kart.

It eats up the miles on the motorway and feels confident at all speeds.

It is easy on the pocket in terms of fuel.

Could be bigger inside as I'm over 6' tall, but the seats support you well. The pedals are a little too cramped. Definitely not for families or if you have to cart stuff about.

Apart from minor niggles (rain leaks, remote transponder) this is a great car. Reliability is good. It is dead easy to service and insurable and seems to take the miles well.
