In the last year a number of things have started to go wrong with the car involving expensive repairs:
ABS fault.
Air conditioning packed up (replacement £500+)
BSI computer fault requiring replacement (random signals on computer display, e.g. driver's door electric window randomly and regularly opens for no apparent reason and only responds to the door switch to close it after many attempts, signals and beeps from the computer display that passenger door is open and interior lights come on.
Expensive brake assembly replacements one at the rear and one at the front.
One defect to look out for which has been with the car ever since I bought it, are leaks from the roof in the area of the two front visors. They drip when the rain is heavy.
This is a great car with a fantastic engine, let down by an increasing number of faults which are expensive to repair.
The body shell is also soft and like many other owners my car has a lot of small dents on the doors.
If your car has a sunroof, check the drain holes are clear (usually one in each corner of the guttering in the sunroof aperture). Sounds like they are partially blocked and in heavy rain the water is filling the gutters up faster than the drain holes can clear them.
I agree about the bodywork panels being soft, my own 406 estate in silver seemed to pick up dents very quickly from new (& before you say it, it wasn't me! lol).
Had a v reg for 5 years and covered 50k great engine. body is light, but that helps the performance.
The readout does fault out a bit, but only on radio. not a penny spent on anything else.
One of the best cars I have owned and considering buying a newer lower mileage one.
