Well try to look after your 504s. I use to have one, a 504 ti sedan, and if I won the state lottery I would go and find one again, because whatever it is about them, will always grab attention like no other car ever produced. THEIR STYLING IS AND WAS PERFECT.

Author of this comment. Just sold my 504 after owning it for about 25 years. Sold it to a friend who was already the owner of a similar 504. The car was getting no use, but still in perfect order. Sad to see it go, but better for somebody to get some use out of it.

Great car, will miss it.

What, if anything, did you replace the Pug with?

Replaced it with a Volvo 940 1993; just as bullet proof as the 504. The only problem I had with the 504 was the bodywork; the paint was getting tired and surface rust was appearing. The Volvo body and paint is far superior to the 504.

You, sir, have impeccable taste in cars! I hope the Volvo scratches the same itch for a comfortable but dynamically competent sedan.

Author of this comment: I saw my old 504 today, still owned by the friend I sold it to. Still running strong. The new owner is elderly, and but for normal maintenance, the car runs without fault. These cars were built to last a long time providing the bodywork did not succumb to rust. The owner told me he regularly gets complimented on the car and even gets offers to buy it.

When you mention the Citroën in your comment, I imagine you're referring to the SM, which was a contemporary of the 504.

It's true that the SM was a bit more comfortable than the 504, but the Peugeot was more reliable and, especially, simpler and much cheaper to maintain.

Regarding fuel consumption, compared to petrol cars of the 70s, it's true it consumed less, but by today's standards, the 504 wasn't a particularly fuel-efficient car. Even so, give me an Indenor from the 70s over a modern diesel; there's no comparison in terms of reliability.
