2005 Pontiac G6 from North America

Summary:

Great reliable car!

Faults:

Sun roof leaks, so when it rains a lot, water ends up on the floorboard! Odometer gauge light went out shortly after I got the car.

General Comments:

Great reliable car! Have had it for four years and still love it!!! Looks great, too!

Nothing so far! Amazing car!

General Comments:

I have gone on a road trip from LA to CA wine country, and my car is still running like a champ! Smooth ride.

I love the oil life monitor. ABS has saved me countless times.

I have a panoramic sun roof, and not one problem with it at all! Been thru hail and heavy rain! Not one drop of water inside my car!

Amazing gas mileage!

I love the audio system! 6 CD changer.

It's an amazing car! I love my Pontiac! Has out lasted all my friend's import cars!

2005 Pontiac G6 GT 3.7L V6 from North America

Summary:

Love the car overall, looks sharp, drives very well

Faults:

Sensors for doors are going bad (door ajar message).

Door locked and could not be unlocked.

Paint wearing poorly, chipping.

General Comments:

Repairs/replacements are costly.

Tires, low profile, high cost, low mileage rating, replaced twice already.

Windshield wipers cannot be purchased at parts supplier, dealership charging $50 per pair.

Sunroof is awesome!

Sound system is awesome!

Radio reception is fair/poor at times.

Not many engine repairs needed yet at 87,000 miles.

Paint on hood/front fender is chipping easily and is already looking pretty bad.

2005 Pontiac G6 GT V6 from North America

Summary:

The G6 GT is a fun car without solid backing from its manufacturer

Faults:

The panoramic sunroof has lodged open at 47,000 miles. While I like the feature, and had used it just about any nice weather day, I feel that with all the moving parts it is just prone to problems.

Because the car is newer, the module ($800+) is what GM refers to as a SPAC case - meaning it is not normally stocked and the dealer could initially give me no estimate for when it would arrive. That said, I have been given worst case estimates for other SPAC parts of "months" and as much as one year.

I now have an estimate for the part's arrival as about 5 weeks from when the part was ordered. My advice - do not buy a 2005 G6 with this a panoramic sunroof. I don't think GM had the kinks worked out and they certainly are in no hurry to fix the ones that break.

General Comments:

The G6 GT is a well-styled car with nice features. It's quick and handles well. Overall, I like it a lot - but my faith in the car and GM in general has been seriously damaged by this sunroof issue... and I've been loyal - owned a Grand Am GT, Grand Prix GT, S-10 and my wife's Saturn Vue.

2005 Pontiac G6 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

G6 has great potential, but falls short

Faults:

Nothing major has gone wrong with the car so far, and I've had it for 10000km.

- Dashboard squeaks sometimes when driving

- Car has a rough start sometimes for no apparent reason

General Comments:

My major complaint with G6 is the computer control build into the CD player, which prevents me from installing an MP3 player in this car. I must say that must the worst idea ever, as there was plenty of room to build them separately, and the G6 loses major marks for that (the design of the CD/computer controls is VERY boring).

I’m also very unimpressed with the performance of the V6 engine. Fuel economy is about 12L/100km (and that’s not booting the car; if you have a heavy foot you will use more), and that’s 80% city driving. Too much for my taste with the unimpressive engine performance, but might be OK for others.

Seats are not very comfortable; ever since I switched from my other car, I have lower back pain. But that’s just might be the break in period... time will tell, but I'm not impressed so far.

Overall car is OK, but I can understand the price depreciation on American cars, there just seem to be too many small problems and unimpressive interior design.
