1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Tricky

Faults:

First my cigarette lighter plug in stopped working? No clue.

Then my rpm meter, mph meter, gas meter didn't light up at night. Checked all fuses and all were good; no clue what is going on there.

General Comments:

The car is pretty quick, but I wish it was easier to work on. The dash is just one huge piece; not very fun to try to work on, and wires are all over the place.

I'm an electronic tech and I have troubles figuring this car out. Any clue on the light problems, email me at dippylipp@hotmail.com please. It's really starting to make me mad.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE2 3.4 V6 from North America

Summary:

Once you get past the bugs it's an OK car

Faults:

IN my past 10k miles of use, I have replaced the transmission, power steering pump and lines, intake manifold, Intake manifold gaskets, calipers rotors and pads (seemed to get rid of the warping problem. I did this right after I got the car and haven't had a problem.)

-My trunk leaks on the right side

-blower resister went

-Stock radio display didn't work and the volume wouldn't go down

-Rear drums screwed up

-cooling hoses broken or leaking.

General Comments:

The car is quick and sporty but be nice to it, if you beat on it, it will make you pay out the rear to fix it.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 2.4 litre DOHC I4 from North America

Summary:

GM spelled "Grand Am" wrong, it's 'J-U-N-K'

Faults:

I haven't even owned this car for 6 months and I already want to take it back. Soon after I got the car, I was having tie-rod problems, they kept stripping the threads out of the bolts that kept them in place.

Then it was the brakes, which I've replaced once already and I need to again soon. They creak more than my grandma's joints do.

I have more warning lights on my dash than an airport runway.

My front end recently went out, which includes the wheel bearings, which you can't just replace the wheel bearings but the entire hub assembly, which is VERY retarded of GM to do.

My back window motor went out, so that had to be replaced.

My fuel economy sux! I get maybe 16 miles to the gallon (I thought it was a 4 cylinder engine, not a V8). The fan settings 1 and 2 have never worked. Very disappointed in Pontiac...

General Comments:

Handles extremely well, fun sporty car.

Plenty of power from the four.

Tranny is smooth and doesn't hunt gears.

Nice looking car.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT 4.3 from North America

Faults:

This car is a piece of crap; very unreliable.

It has been to the dealer numerous times for brakes, with a constant rubbing noise.

The windows do not go down; 2 of them broke, 500 each window to fix. Now it just happened for the 3rd time.

Best of all is the security system; one day it will start, and one day it won't. It has been going on now for about a year; the dealer after 1700 said it was fixed, and now the Pontiac dealer closed and every time I take it and spend the money on the hunk of crap, something else goes wrong.

Airbag lights keep coming on.

Now the car has 35000 and is really only used on short distances on days when it starts.

Never again will I ever buy a Pontiac. BEWARE, IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE from North America

Summary:

Sucks my money, wastes money I don't have

Faults:

What HASN'T gone wrong with this car would be more accurate.

I have had nothing but problems with my '99 Pontiac Grand AM since I have gotten it. Everything folks have written about the Grand AM (sometimes I call it a Grand POS) because that is what it has been for me and a major pain.

Typically there is a major expensive repair at least every 3-6 months. Most recently, I had the security light coming on. I got a new wire about a week ago... a week later, it has come back on. Who knows what "fun", new problem the Grand POS will pose for me this week.

General Comments:

Horrible, I wish I had known about this before purchasing it.
