Sunfire 2002 - My CD Player stopped working since I changed battery!!! Does anyone know the magic to fix this other than magic of money!!!

My 2001 Pontiac sunfire issues since battery was replaced. Issue 1: service engine light. Issue 2. Odometer now reads error. Issue 3. radio is locked. However, I am able to change the clock time, and radio starts to play then, it stops playing, and the "LOCK" appears. When I tried pressing the hour and minute for the code a message of "No data" appears below the time. Issue 4. Power windows will not go back up, but then they will. Issue 5. Right door will not unlock or open at times. Issue 4, just had a gasket replaced!

HI.

My wife has a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire with #1 fan setting problem. Does not work at #1.

We should definitly organize ourselves and force GM into a recall.

I have a 2000 sunfire, fan doesn't work, engine light stays on and blower 1 and 2 don't work, RECALL.

I just got done debugging a no daytime running lights (DRL) and no high beam on driver side problem (2000 chevy cavalier). When the car was started and drop it into drive the DRL dash light would blink and then the SERVICE icon would turn on. What I found was the three wires that connect directly into the back of the head light socket are corroded and broken (on drivers side). The fix is to replace the socket and splice in a new socket using pigtails. It looks to me like most of the head light problems are showing up in sections of the wire routes which are not protected/covered by electrical tape. At first I thought the DRL relay was bad, but I tested it and it was OK.

I have also replaced the blower motor resistor PCB board. If you do it yourself it very very cheap ($15-20). As others have pointed out, it's kind of a tight fit, but you simply drop the blower motor located under dash on passenger side and than you can access the resistor PCB through the hole which the blow opened up. No one should have to go without fan setting or trade in a car for this type of repair. The problem is that it's just to expensive to pay a dealer to do almost anything these days.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L. Does anybody else have a problem with their ceiling light flickering on and off? At first I only noticed it at night (when it's dark) but now I see it in my rear view mirror all the time.

Also, my check engine light turns on and off randomly, and my check fluid light will turn on until I rev the engine to speed up, then it USUALLY turns back off.

AND, a few times I have had a hard time starting it in the morning... (it just clicks and eventually starts) and then the car will die randomly on the freeway (scary). But this seems to have something to do with parking it in the wrong spot when the sprinklers turn on at my house, because that is the only time it ever happens, it seems... annoying nonetheless.

Hello, I have been having electrical problems with my 2002 Pontiac sunfire: All windows go down, but then randomly will not want to go back up, my interior light is now coming on while driving and then won't shut off, I needed to pull the fuse the only problem is when you pull the interior light fuse, the radio and all interior lights do not work. Currently there are no recalls on 2002 pontiac...Also the service engine soon light stays on when there is nothing wrong? Any suggestions?

Very interesting reading... I came on here to get information about my service light and I've learned I'm not alone in other areas...

1) I only have blower 3 and 4 on AC.

2) DRL icon flickers goes out and Service light remains on.

3) Dash/console lights decide when they will light up and when they won't.

4) Back passenger side window would not go up or down from console for a year and now works like it never happened.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire... although my service light is on (see point #2) it is now on when my lights are on which probably means there is really something wrong. I will have it checked this week. Is the service light the same as the check engine light in this car? Very quirky car.

JULY 27/06 I have been the owner of a 2000 Sunfire 4door since Sept/99. After 265000km I can't say that I had any major problems with the car. The only flaw was the back speakers which sometimes die out. I recently purchased a new Montana and hope I have as much carefree driving with it.

Has anyone else had the problem of replacing the battery and the vehicle refusing to start? I mean, It cranks, but refuses to kick over. Write back if you have had this problem. Thanks.

If it doesn't crank slow, it's not a battery, did you check to see if you have spark? Did you check your fuel pressure, are there any codes in pcm. We can guess all day long, but it could cost you lot's of money.

2000 Pontiac Sunfire 4 door owner.

AC resistor is busted on mine too. Maybe at the same time as the cig lighter stopped working.

Got a 2001 Sunfire with the service light on, running lights flicker then stay off... got high beam, but now low beam. service chap told me they need to replace the entire wire system for the head lamps. GM is aware of this and isn't doing anything about it. this is why my next car will not be made in America. Cya GM!

Hello, I have a 2000 Sunfire and have had an extreme list of problems.

1. Back speakers don't work

2. Check engine light

3. Service light

4. DRL problems

5. Chugging when accelerating

6. Exhaust problems

All cost me a long amount of time and money.

My advice, don't buy one, or if you have one, sell it.

I have a 2000 sunfire and had the blower problem at position #1 within 1 year - GM repaired it free of charge. Just this year I have had a new problem with the blower blowing the 15A fuse. It started slowly, where a new fuse would last weeks. Now the fuse blows immediately when the fan is switched on. The blower seems OK and the relay (near fuse) is OK. Other than paying $100's to have someone replace the harness, any ideas?
