1997 Porsche 911 3.6 from North America

Summary:

Expensive to maintain

Faults:

Transmission problems mostly. I won this car in a give away and damn why couldn't I have just won a normal car.

General Comments:

Parts are way way too highly priced for this car and almost impossible to find.

Stop complaining and sell the car to someone who can afford to maintain it. You may be better suited for a Toyota? Look around the trailer park, maybe you should buy what your neighbor drives.

Amen. Should've taken the cash value. What did you expect? Cheap maintenance?

I must concur with the last two remarks concerning this persons (obviously not a car enthusiast) poor review of what ranks to be one of the most refined machines on earth. Why do you see think the 911's are running so strongly in endurance events like Le Mans 24 Hrs. or for that matter in the Le Mans Racing Series. As for braking ability, reliability, resale, and all out general performance, as the commercial says, there is no substitute.

1997 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe 3.6 V6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Do I really need to say. Quick, well with over 400bhp under my right foot, you bet it's quick and fast. Only drawback is we don't have a speed limit like Germany. As in no speed limit. Well on the motorway that is.

It's a straight six, not a V6, Porsche have never made a V6. Shouldn't you know that if you own one?

5th Jan 2001, 11:08

Erm, it's a flat six.

Who cares if it is a flat 6 or straight 6, it is still fast.

You don't really own a Porsche at all do you?

1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S 3.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

1. Back in garage 4 times for faulty alarm

2. Warning lights coming on intermittently

3. Car finally taken by Porsche GB for 4-day examination

4. Attracts far too many insects at high speeds

General Comments:

After initial problems and appointment of a new sales exec the car and the dealer now live up to expectations. Stunning performance, grip and general personality. Going to add carbob dashboard, white dials and rear spoiler from Turbo. Had considered M3 Evo and Ferrari 348 but 911 has it all. Can't see myself ever selling the car....PS don't buy another blue or silver car.
