"A great first car with great perfrormance"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Fried a piston at 157000 miles.

Bought another car for parts and put the engine in my car at 157000miles (2.7 liter) same as the engine with the bad piston.

Had to replace alternator belt, nut, and belt wheel at 155000 miles.

General comments?

This car is very fast.

It handles and breaks like a real race car.

Despite the not so good luck with the 2.7 liter engines it still is a great car.

I love the smell of the all leather interior the sport seats are really supported they give you great confidence when you drive.

All 911's are different. mine came with everything in it and on it. it has.

The rear rubber wing.

Temp. gauge.

Cockpit recording device built in to the center console that records directly to the original dash radio.

Automatic defrost/heat exchanger switch.

Fog lights.

And everthing else that was a option.

I bought a 1977 targra about 8 years ago, it was rust color and it needed some work. Since then I have redone the interior, installed power windows

had the color changed to viper red and also had all the weather stripping and rubbers changed. The engine is a 3.0 liter and it's fast and handles like new. There's one problem..I live in a condominium and park in a common garage and have had the car broken into. In february someone broke into car and ripped off the whale-fin with the deck lid, when they took the deck lid they damaged the air conditioner. It gulls me that one cannot have a nice car with out some lowlife wanting to steal it or take parts from it!! I plan to move out to a house with a garage or just sell it! I've thought of buying something like a geo metro or someting ugly, and then maybe i could sleep at night!!

I own 2 Porsche 911S's one a 1976 targa for a parts car for the 1977 targa that I purchased first. Within the first year I fried a piston. so I used the parts car for another motor. but being what the cars were with the 2.7 liter engines, the same thing happened, fried pistons, pulled head studs, bent valves. So now both cars are sitting in a garage waiting for new motors I think I will replace one of the 2.7s with a later 3.2 liter engine, and possibly rebiuld the two fried 2.7s into a running engine for the 1976 car. The 1977 porsche 911S targa that I own is amazing. I love it and will NEVER sell it!. it is one example that is rare. I can't seem to find any other models with the recording device built into the center console that records to the original radio. this seems to be extreamly rare. I would love to see a 911 with this option that is not my own. the cars radio deck that records audio was pulled and replaced with blaupunk unit, leaving the pull out microphone in the center console (witch is neat, but useless to me with out the original radio deck) if any one has any infromation please email info to ryanroesch@hotmail.com. the car also has full leather recaro sport seats whtch by the way are amazing in themselves, they are so comfortable. I have taken 800+ mile trips with no stops because I was so comfortable. Its also got the rubber whail tail which makes the car look even faster. The 1976 911S porsche targa on the other hand was stripped of its radio. dident even have a center console. the seats were flat to sit on un like the super comfortable spots seats in the 77' car. the 76' car has no rubber wing so it does not look as fast, but a porsche non the less.

I am purchasing a 1976 911S Targa which is in very nice shape, needs a new dash as most. It has a rebuilt engine and a lot of work with receipts from original. Is this car worth $11,000.00?
