Porsche 911 Twin Turbo Carrera. If you drive a new one you will not want to drive anything else. They are that exceptional. If you have to bring up price, you should pass.

Most people who don’t even look at a price and are willing to “spend whatever it takes” and get ripped off won’t stay rich for long.

Pass. Nice, but not necessary. It's like being happy enough with a 280E instead of a 450SE.

Correct. Likewise, I had a BMW 740i back in the day (circa mid 1990s) Test drove a 750i. The V12 was stunning, but the smaller V8 engined car was sufficient. Did not see what the bigger engine could offer besides worse fuel economy. I could afford it, but what was the point I thought. Both cars had leather, all the options, not much difference. Smaller engined cars (728i, 730i) were noticeably slower and less equipped, so that's why I went with the mid/near top range car. A lot of cars, even cars I like, are superfluous at the top end. It's about balance and proportion, even if you have extra cash. Some cars just hit the sweet spot for your needs and wants.

But I get that people only live once and want to go all out - that's good as well if that's what you want.

All that really? A resident expert. There are many exotics out there beyond Porsche. Certainly would not be manufactured at all if there was not a market for them. However if you do a track day through a club you will be shocked. Best driving experience ever. I bought the wide body twin turbo Carrera GTS. Drive anywhere coast to coast. Or track.

Yes, people buy Porsches & exotics. What they don’t do is unnecessarily pay way over sticker price and get ripped off simply to “have it at whatever cost”, as you implied.

That’s not their problem, it became one for you. Nicely speaking. Why begrudge? I bought mine for track and my fun. Not for others. And when I want another, I just have to wait over a year with shortages. Every single thing has a price attached to it. And it’s entirely unnecessary.

If you pay over sticker, you just did a disservice to the next person who rolls into that dealership looking to buy a car.
