Lights packed up due to faulty wiring, cambelt changed twice, and 1st and 2nd popping out of gear!
Great car in 5dr form, 1.4i 16v k series engine is loud but onced chipped and tuned it's very responsive and really comes to life at 4,500rpm, also bodywork stays immaculate, looks great with 16" 5 spokes!

Alternator fault.
Lower gear linkage kept popping out.
Seals to rear lights needed replacement.
Generally OK for an old car.
A bit on the slow side.
Changing the spark plugs yourself is a pain in the a**e, take it to a dealer!
If anything goes wrong on your Rover NEVER take it anywhere else than a rover dealer, I know, I've done it and lost money on unfixed problems.

I have a 1990 214 SLi and my gear linkage came off also.
I have a J 214sli. It has a re-con box but seems quite stiff from 1st to 2nd for about 2minutes when cold. Did you have this symptom before the gear-shift problem? Any ideas would be appreciated! I've had the car for 10 years and apart from the new box have managed all the repairs myself -including the water pump. I have now had my knuckles replaced! A great little car, still going strong after well over 100.000 miles!

Hey!
I have had the same car for 6 years now (bought it new), but I have some problems and hope you can help me out!
Normal stuff: high and rough idle, at stops it stalls then rushes forward, high consumption.
The car is perfectly serviced, in great shape, but, no one ever worked on it or checked any sensors. And they're the thing I would like checked now!
Therefore:
Is there a homepage with at least a bit detailed description of CTS, CAS, TPS and other sensors and how to check them. What to look for first, I mean, I don't even know does this car have a flap air flow meter or a hot film!
