1990 SAAB 900 S Convertible review from UK and Ireland
"A cult classic, but avoid lemons or have very deep pockets"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Air mass meter stopped working, three hundred pounds to replace.
Ongoing problem with tick over at idle, checked above, hoses, mixture etc, but now suspect control sensor.
Head gasket seal started to leak.
Power switched stopped working, cheapish and easy to replace.
Drivers seat beginning to collapse inward.
General comments?
This version of the soft top has decent in gear acceleration, but is in no way a performance model.
Car extremely well made and built like a tank, but some interior parts feel cheap.
Extremely dark inside with hood up, or as bright and breezy as they come with hood down, two cars in one.
After 14 years on road, all electrics still function perfectly.
Ride somewhat bumpy, but handling and steering are excellent.
Car attracts a lot of attention, so may be target for vandals. Do not buy one of these if you live in area prone to this.
Engine and gearbox are beutifully smooth.
Paintwork has lasted brilliantly for the year, car almost in new condition save stone chips.
