1993 Saturn SC SC2 1.9 Twin Cam from North America

Summary:

This car and a cheap, reliable car that gets great gas mileage!

Faults:

Not many things have gone wrong during the time I have had it. During the winter, The radiator started to leak (which was my fault for not putting anti freeze in). I have a MINOR oil leak, but that is expected. I also have a muffler leak. The power locks are starting to go. The power seat belts are also a hassle, but overall, I love this car.

General Comments:

This car has good get up.

The paint still looks GREAT!

It's a very fun car to drive, and I love it!

It has 120,000 miles on it and its still running strong.. no big changes yet.

1993 Saturn SC 2 1.9 DOHC from North America

Summary:

A $500 dollar beater

Faults:

My seats recline on their own.

My passenger door only opens from the inside.

The sunroof sticks when ever it is open.

The headliner is hanging down.

I have a small crack in the front fender.

General Comments:

The car is very fast off the line and has lots of power in third gear. The car is very nice except for when the seats fall back on you when your driving.

The thing about the seats reclining on their own happends to mine all of the time, I was wondering if anyone know how to fix it because it is VERY annoying to the passenger.

My seats did that also. I just went to a local junk yard and changed my seats.

The seat lever stays in the up position. You have to manually push it down so the passenger seat doesn't fall back. I would think some lubrication would take care of the problem, but I don't ride in the passenger seat, so it's not my concern.

The gears stripped out on the seat. There are 2 of them, but you have to remove the seat in order to replace them... about $30 each or simply go to a junk yard and get some leather interior for about $200 for all seats or $50-$75 a piece. Or you can pull the fold down seat behind you down until it lodges against your seat!!! This worked for me for about 35k miles until I sold it with 198k miles on it!! My 93 Saturn SC2 had 130k miles when it was purchased.

1993 Saturn SC 2 1.9 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A fun to drive and economical American car

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong on this car, although when I bought the Saturn the driver's side door was jammed shut. This was due to a faulty door latch.

General Comments:

My Saturn SC2 is one of a very small number in the UK. I like it because it is different.

It is usefully compact and very economical on fuel.

However, it is also rather small inside. I am 6ft 3in tall and can just about get comfortable, but the rear seats are strictly for children.

It handles extremely well, and can cope with anything my Alfa Romeo could in this regard.

I especially like the polymer body panels, which are very dent-resistant and help keep the weight down.

As it is light and has a 126bhp twin-cam engine is is quite quick too.

1993 Saturn SC SC2 from North America

Faults:

In the +5 years I have owned this car, and only minor maintenance things have occurred. It has 103,000 miles on it.

General Comments:

The entire Saturn experience has been wonderful. I could do one of those commercials! The car has been hit from the passenger side by a tow truck at 30 miles and I was protected by the steel frame. The way you are treated with respect from the moment you buy the car to when you bring it in for scheduled maitenance. It really is no hassle and thats what you want from a car company.

1993 Saturn SC SC2 1.6 dohc from North America

Faults:

I've had a pretty bad "Saturn experience". Computer chip, O2 sensor, wiper motor (recall) were all under warranty, but motor mount, alternator, seat adjustment, and speakers were not.

General Comments:

It's strange the way I love my car despite the problems I've had with it. I bought the car expecting it to be trouble-free, and it simply hasn't been. I can't say for sure whether I will consider buying another Saturn.
