1991 Saturn SL SL2 Twin Cam from North America

Summary:

Amazing!

General Comments:

A friend gave me this car. It has over 230,000 miles (the odometer stopped working shortly after I got it) and I drive it to work and school every day.

It just passed its smog test! Although it needs work, it amazes me that it keeps going!

I had never owned a Saturn before, but after this I would consider another. And the twin cam is peppy, even with automatic and after all those miles.

1991 Saturn SL SL2 1.9 DOHC 16v from North America

Summary:

Fun to drive, in other words, cheap fun

Faults:

Everything that has gone wrong with the car could be expected from a car this age. I replaced the radiator, and power steering pump at 150,000. I replaced the clutch at 185,000, this was expensive, but worth it. Other things include brakes, and a new axle because I got ran off the road and broke it.

General Comments:

I love my car, the sunroof leaks, the stereo doesn't work, the power windows have a mind of their own, but I can blow away any other four banger on the road and many six cylinders.

1991 Saturn SL from North America

Summary:

For the most part pretty reliable

Faults:

New engine (owner's fault), clutch, transmission.

Just replaced the heater core.

The interior of the car has had some problems.

General Comments:

Being that the car is 13 years old it's held up pretty well, but it's on it's last legs. As of right now there's a leak that has not been located (it's somewhere behind the dash) that we think is shorting out fuses and making the automatic seat belts not work. About a year ago we discovered that the windows were not defrosting (we tried anything and everything) so we got the heater core fix. The problem is still there and we're now thinking that it has to do with the leak. We're also having problems with the motor mounts. At first it sounded like the car has intake, but now it sounds like I'm dragging tin cans behind me.

1991 Saturn SL SL2 1.9L from North America

Summary:

A reliable car, good value

Faults:

Alternator.

The brake rotors.

General Comments:

I got this car before reading any reviews of it. My sister owned a Saturn that was reliable so my parents got me one. Recently I've read reviews and the 1991 SL2 didn't get good reviews at all, which surprises me a lot.

This car has been great and it's still going strong. At this rate, it seems this car will be lasting a lot longer (I hope I didn't jinx myself!).
