2002 Skoda Fabia MPi 1.4 from Dominican Republic

Summary:

A very BAD CAR. Don't buy Skoda

Faults:

Since I bought the car I had electric problems, had to replace the ignition at 49,000KM.

Replaced all front bushings, and tune up was made at 49,000KM up to 500 dollars. Car stayed in the shop about 3 days. Since they do not know what really was the problem.

Front powered windows don't work fine, squeaking noise is produced when its used. Still bad.

Muffler broke at 52,000KM - $50.

Ignition replaced again, same electric problem at 53,000KM. This time the car spent more than 7 days in the shop, since this time they were clueless about the car's problem. This time the bill was for $700.

Squeaking noise comes from the dashboard and from the trunk.

General Comments:

The car is not as that good as people say, the engine runs badly, and fuel consumption is high for its class.

I don't recommend it.

The streets of Dominican Republic are a death sentence for any kind of car suspension, and I think your problem is not with the car, it's with the dealer. The dealer has a very bad service and low budget technicians. I own a 2002 Fabia 1.4mpi, I don't have major complaints about this car, I have 17" wheels, and I`m still getting 42-38 kmpg on city! (with a premium gas of 73 octane)

The engine has very cheap maintenance; only an oil change once in a while, and that`s it.

2002 Skoda Fabia Comfort 1.4 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

It quietly gets on with it's job reliably, but without winning any prizes

Faults:

Brakes sticking in cold weather for the last three years, with brake cleaning needed at every service after year one.

Rear washer stopped functioning during year three due to a pressure problem.

Very occasional weirdness with operation of the electric windows - complete failure to function, or buttons operating incorrect windows.

Front roll bar had to be replaced at fourth annual service.

General Comments:

I like this car. It's has good all-round performance and generally dependable. No serious complaints with the car or the dealerships.

A little too much work has been required at annual services after year one for my liking, with each service coming in around the 200GBP mark.

2002 Skoda Fabia Confort Sedan 1.4 from Ecuador

Summary:

Great value for your money, with really good looks

Faults:

Air Conditioning had trouble since car left the dealer. It was fixed by the dealer after a long process. Clutch was replaced in warranty at 15.000 Km.

General Comments:

Great car for the price you pay. however dealer turned out to be a nightmare. Had to to even threaten to sue in order to get all necessary replacements. The car has a really comfortable ride, but for its weight it could use some additional HP. After solving trouble with AC and Clutch the car has not given any other problem that's 35.000 KM. Very cheap to run, fuel consumption is really good and it is very good looking and stylish. Its comfort would suggest you are riding a superior sedan.

2002 Skoda Fabia Classic Estate 1.9sdi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Questionable reliability nice, but flawed

Faults:

The battery leaked after 1 week.

Door seal leaking after 1 month.

Headlining rattle.

Poor gear selection.

Total gearbox failure at 30k.

Anti roll bar bushes replaced at 40k.

General Comments:

Feels pretty solid inside and out and drives quite well i. e light steering well balanced around corners.

The gearbox failure was very worrying I was traveling down the motorway then no drive at all. Skoda assist were very unhelpfull I also got a bill for £160 for replacing a worn clutch (at 30k??)

Economical to run, but I should have gone for the turbo.

2002 Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.9 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Very good value for money, performance motor car

Faults:

Nothing has ever gone wrong with this car.

General Comments:

This car is perhaps the best built and best performing I have ever owned. Over the years I have owned dozens of cars and had had reservations about them all.

But, my Skoda Fabia Estate Elegance is the best yet.
