2005 Subaru Impreza WRX from North America - Comments

I believe most people here are commenting from North American roads point of drive. Over here in Europe, we have twists and turns and A, B, and C roads and if you ever try to follow a Scooby with your tang, you will be in a bad way.

I have both 2005 WRX Prodrive and 2007 tang we call Eleanor. The tang is a good motorway machine, but not in the league of the super Subba.

We also have a E55 AMG 2005 for my missus, and that drives more like the tang, but still not in the Scooby's world.

I will say drive a subaru for what it was made for. I live in London, and also have a place in Conyers, Georgia where I drive a C Class AMG EU import, and must say it eats the vettes and tangs when they try.

I will advise all believers and non-believers to check out this site. and form a picture in their minds what kind of abuse an EU spec Subaru goes through every day in Europe (weather conditions included).

Now remember the Lambo is an all wheel drive, and so is the Scooby. The only machine that can do almost what the Scooby does in the wet is the Mitsubishi Evo VIII FQ 360; don't get me wrong, the Mit FQ 400 is a lion and its pride in one, but too much power for the weight, and therefore belongs to the aircraft industry, cos you have to be a trained fighter pilot to handle the bugger.

I suggest most people here that have doubts about the Subaru should take a trip to Europe and test drive a few stock Prodrives here. I can assure you guys and girls, life will be different afterwards. Maybe the Scoobys in the US are setup in a way that the cops have a fighting chance. Ask any cop any where in the world what happens when they come across a proper Scooby; they worry and so should they. Remember German cops have 911 Turbos and Merc AMGs, and UK cops have Mitsubishi Evos and BMW M5. They still panic when they come across a Scooby. You cant imagine how much paper work cops have filled requesting for scooby catcher, not to mention forms to fill when they damage their already tuned up machines. The all-mighty soundtrack from the boxer decat, cold suction setup will put most chasers into a state of shell shock syndrome. Now that is why you buy a Subaru Impreza WRX STi P4 (the widow maker)

The WRX is the ultimate all around car. But one must bear in mind they range greatly in performance from one model to another. The highest end WRX is the car that races against Lambos and Ferraris on a track. The lowest end one is hardly over 200 HP.

But... if you don't live in a winter wonderland this car is the biggest waste off money imaginable. Where I live my WRX is king of the road... Northern Canada.

Oh... and yes the WRX is the Ugliest car ever built for the price IMO. I love it.
