I have a 95 also that blew the head gasket at 87,000 miles, Was told that the 93 and 94 models were under recall, but not the 95. Total cost was $1,600. Other than the head gasket no other problems.

I bought my 1995 Toyota 4-Runner in March, 2001 with 64, 000 miles. Paid $25,00.00 (Finance charges included) 2 months later, radiator blew. I had to have it replaced. 6 months later, blew the head gasket. Sued the dealership, after one year of the car sitting, I won the case, recd $2,000.00. 1 yr later, blew had gasket. 6 months later, blew again. Used Steel Seal. Worked for 6 weeks. Used it again, 4 weeks. put another $3,500~ The Toyota dealership said: "you missed the recall by 3 months & it will be $8,000.00 to fix it!!! I feel all of us have been lied to by the corp to cover their error. I am sure that the Toyota Corp could have & should honored the recall. Well, that will never happen. So, I am stuck with a car that was paid off and it sits. I am riding the bus & walking because I have no more money! Toyota will not honor the recall whatsoever.

I have a 1994 pickup with the 22-re engine. It just popped the head gasket at 130,000. Does anybody know about the engine recall discussed in the above posts? I was not aware there was one. Any details anybody knows would be great.

Too heavy with oversized tires. DOHC engines will suffer this kind of combination. Horror stories with oil starvation under off-camber situation. Poor reliability reports because second owners avoid prohibitive dealer repair cost.
