1998 Toyota Landcruiser VX review from Australia and New Zealand
"A robust, reliable and hard working mean machine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear left wheel alignment slightly out from new. This causes tire to wear more quickly & requires regular rotation of tires. No mechanism to align this wheel.
Torque converter gave problems at slow speeds after 80000km. A new improved torque converter was supplied & fitted free by Toyota with no arguments (even though outside 3 year warranty period).
General comments?
An excellent vehicle all around. Very, very reliable... has never failed to start first time, every time. Very powerful turbo diesel engine, and surprising quick acceleration when overtaking on open road.
Gives a great feeling of solidity and safety. Robust in every regard. Excellent towing ability. I tow a 2000 kg boat, and this machine just eats it up, even on hilly New Zealand journeys.
