1995 Toyota Supra SZ from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Amazing car!, don't regret having one at all, but fuel costs give me second thoughts"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing really,

Electric windows stopped working, only because I had "been over a lot of bumps" and this resulted in the switch inside the door disconnecting itself.

General comments?

Heads turn everywhere I go with this car, I have Veil side 18inch rims on the car, which make a difference!

Fuel economy - Don't even bother putting £5 into the car for a short journey, it does not even register on the fuel gauger. (note for students like myself).

Handling is Awesome, expensive when the rear tires wear down though (£184 for 1 rear tire last time).

'Putting you're foot down' is Horrible as far as fuel costs go, BUT, it cannot be helped, you'll understand this once you own one.

You cannot be serious about V8's being able to kick Supra's. I have seen Supra's, straight from the factory absolutly smash V8's! (As much As I Do Like My Big Bent Eights!) You probably spent 60K on the looks rather than the performance side of things. If I was you, I would have kept the Supra and actually spent some time with the engine!

Have you ever been the the " world street nationals? you'll be racing with hard core big block v8 fanatics! These race are for the world's fastest street legal cars. Must be street legal or else you can't race. You'll be racing with over 200 mph, 7 sec, 1/4 mile v8's!! YEs, street legal!!!See if you can race a supra over there- there's just no competition. I've never seen an import race over there-they just won't qualify- remember, hardcore v8 fanatics!! Watch the videos if you can and you'll understand what I mean. No offense, supra are for teens over here in the USA.

I know people in the US love their V8s. But in in terms of style and standard performance the supra and many top-end Japanese cars are winning the race.

With so many types of mods available like turbos, you can modify just about any car to do amazing things these days, so one could not argue this point.

I like the mustang though :-)

Here in the USA, supra are for the teen crowd. V8's, v10, v12's are the choice for raw power- without lag. Supra tt can't win in competitions. It's just for teen road racing- which is very immature.

Toyota never won the 24 hour Lemans endurance race because they always break down after a few hours. Same as the Nascar- toyota never qualified and when they did, it broke after four laps. Toyotas are only good for economy cars, for family use who want to save money. No offense, but you guys are over your head with the supra. Here in America, supra are for teens.

First off I don't see how you can say that supras are for teens when they can barely afford a car that expensive used or new. Plus typical american cars can't make anything near the caliber of that car. the supra is a fast car that handles nice. you can go spend a bunch of money on v8s and have no looks on the street, but I think a car should be about the hole package not about straight line power which you are talking about with the v8s.

Here in the USA, parents buy their teenager cars. I know I live here. Supra over here became a dream for teens- the import crowd like the fast the furious type kids. But for adults, supra is weak and cannot win on competition. It's not the choice for adult competition due to its weak engine. With lack of torque, the supra gets behind due to its turbo lag- too much lag-- specially on slalom, the big engines just speeds off instantly- but the supra, you have to wait until it accelarates agin. Come here to America and prove your supra at the competition for adults. Slalom or straight- you be dealing with v8, v10 fanatics. Streetlegal cars that go over 200 mph in 1/4 mile in 6-7 seconds. I guess you don't know what you missing- you guys think that the supra is so powerfull- well here in the USA it's for teens. No offense.

How many v8's can corner well... fun is not a straight line...

Usa=v8 good.

Uk= poor-we have mostly winding roads and for that a supra would be better...

There both good for different reasons...

A viper and a z-06 corvette (198 mph, 0-60 in 3.4 sec) will blow the supra TT in any corner and straight. Supra has too much lag. In the mid 1990's- professional racers raced the supra TT against the v8s and the supra TT was a clear looser. Too much turbo lag. That's why it didn't sell in America- it became the car for the teenagers. Parents bought their teens these cars- because a viper or a corvette will be too much power for them. Teens race on the street which is very immature. But on pro competition, Supra is a looser- due to its small cubic inch motor. it's very limited.

Supra's are cheap for the horsepower. $2500 for a better turbo plus $2000 for a after market computer along with $2000 for a bigger fuel pump and injectors and you've got a cheap reliable 750hp+ motor. you try and make a reliable 750hp+ v8 for that money.

Do any of you guys even know what it costs for a used toyota supra with even 70,000 miles on it or less. most of them are around 25,000 dollars. that's an expensive car for a teenager and a fast car to. its not your average car. you guys are totally blowing this v8 thing out of proportion. they are expensive to buy as well as the v8 cars. not everybody is made of money. besides all of you guys with the v8s are probably in your forties and make tons of money and can afford a corvette or viper which is faster then the supra. the supra is a decently cheap car which can be potentially faster then your standard v8.

Here in the USA, when supra first came out, it was a $40k dcar. it cost more than th4e corvettte. It was tested by professionals on the race track. A lot of racers were disappointed due to its lack of power and torque, and most of all there's too much lag. The supra gets far behind the big v8's and v10's. That's why supra was rejected by Americans. The sales declined and it was discontinued by the factory. Toyota never even won any race on the "24 hour lemans", which is the ultimate display of factories' most durable engineering design. On Nascar, toyota tried to race, but broke after 4 laps- because the motor blew up. Toyota pulled out of the competition. Don't get me wrong, the Supra is an OK car over here, but it became for the teen crowd. I know I bought my son a supra TT. Mine is a viper- and yes, big difference in power.
