2017 Toyota Tacoma V6 from North America

Summary:

Possibly the worst truck that I ever borrowed

General Comments:

I borrowed this truck from a friend to haul a pallet of sod. No problem there, it did what it was supposed to do.

The problem is being a V6 you would think it would have adequate power, but that's not the case here; very underpowered, revs high like it's working too hard and it had a bit of a rough idle. The optional 4 cylinder? Let's hope I never find out.

Also the brakes are very touchy when applied. I can't believe they still use drums on the rear.

The turning radius is horrible and the interior is full of cheap plastic (common on all modern interiors).

The worst part was that I couldn't use the A/C because the bearings in the blower motor are shot. The owner of course knows this, but has not taken it back to the dealer yet.

This truck has under 15,000 miles.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

That’s why we rent before we buy new vehicles. Do a lot of weekend specials for three reasons. On a frequent long family trip we keep the miles off ours. If they have an issue far away, we don’t have to return or wait around for our own car. Just turn it in. Lastly, if they rent a vehicle under consideration, you have a full weekend to judge it before buying a new one of your own. Enterprise has weekend specials on many vehicles. This smart approach works well vs a brief dealer demo with a salesperson. We like trying on hills etc. You can’t always go by the same make and model for consistency every time.
