Faults:

Required a new gearbox not long after aquiring it at around 20,000 miles due to bearing whine in fifth gear at 50 MPH.

General Comments:

Economical to run for town use, noisy on the motorway and under powered. Dissapointing gear change that is clunky and crunchy. Toyota have tried to fix the gear change problem with a modification to cables and fixings. This is a known fault that spoils the car. A good gear change should be easy to design!

Faults:

The engine warning light has been on from about 35,000 miles. The engine is OK, must be a faulty sensor somewhere. The garage turn it off and then it reappears when the garage is just out of sight.

Both windscreen wipers have rusted at the same place so might be a design fault.

A few rattles and squeaks encouraged by the somewhat hard ride.

General Comments:

Handling better than you'd expect for such a car, engine is lacking in power, but keen to rev, nimble and quick so good around town.

The Freetronic clutchless gearbox is a boon around town and you can put it in 5th at 25mph and still be OK, so making less gearchanges.

The running costs have been exceptionally low.

Faults:

1 exhaust valve in cylinder 1 has burnt at 80,000 miles, causing a lack of compression. The other exhaust valve in cylinder 1 shows signs of pitting at 80,000 miles.

Stereo occasionally ignores all adjustments to volume, radio station, etc, until engine is restarted. This has happened for the whole life of the vehicle.

Driver door hinge requires regular adjustment and driver door paint seems to chip very easily.

General Comments:

This car has served me well. I bought it from new, and it has given me no real trouble in the 4 years I've owned it until now (80,000 miles - see above)

The cabin is well laid out, with lots of storage.

The instruments are very well packaged down the tunnel, which is a source of amusement for visitors, and a source of confusion whenever I am required to drive another vehicle (I find myself looking at the other car's stereo thinking "how fast am I going?")

The rear, front and side visibility is good, even for a person of small stature.

The seat and steering wheel also have sufficient adjustment to allow me to drive comfortably.

The car pulls away well, and will do any speed that I have asked of it, but the revs are always high. My partner complains that it screams.

Nothing.

General Comments:

Fantastic car. Surprisingly quick for a 1.3. The SR Version has nice Alloy wheels, a bigger exhaust and a very cool spoiler so it looks really good.

Haven't had the car all that long, but couldn't be happier with it so far. It seems huge inside and tiny on the outside, with outstanding fuel economy too. The sliding rear seats are a stroke of genius - why doesn't everyone own a Yaris?!

Faults:

I have sometimes perhaps when the engine is cold problem with the reverse gear.

General Comments:

The car is easy and fun to drive.

New drivers door seal fitted under warranty.

General Comments:

Other than servicing and warranty work noted above, the car has been totally reliable.

Overall economy just under 43 mpg, best economy 47 mpg, worst 38.5 mpg.

More load space than a Mercedes E class estate when the seats are folded under the floor. Yaris Verso = 2100 litres. Mercedes E class estate = 1900 litres.

Body roll apparent, but sticks to the road well when cornering.

Use the gearbox and it's a great overtaker and hill climber. Motor very tractable - pulls fifth gear at 23mph on the flat and accelerates smoothly without a murmur - isn't VVT wonderful.

High seats make access easy. The digital dash is excellent. The cabin is very roomy and is 2 inches wider than the saloon. The headroom is excessive!!

The only critiscism I have is that the ride could be better.
