1994 Vauxhall Omega Elite review from UK and Ireland

Acquired the car with a few problems. Illumination on dash was completley out which cost £90 to put right.

Rear passenger side central locking not working. Still not working. Gave car in to Monorep in Yeading, Middlesex. They stripped off the trim to come to the conclusion that the central locking motor was not working. Upon receipt of the car I found that they had not replaced the trim properly, had snapped one bit of it and when questioned said they did not touch the trim and would not rectify the fault. I took the matter up with Vauxhall head office.

Tapping noise on cold start.

Since I have had it the crank shaft sensor failed at 80000 miles costing £250 to replace.

Rocker gaskets developed a leak causing oil to drip into engine block and contaminate HT leads and all plugs. Cost £700 pounds to rectify.

Heater controls illumination went out, cost £1 to put right (did myself)

Front Bushers needed replacing costing £100.

As everything is electric great strain is put onto battery. Have replaced battery twice.

Car is generally cheap to run given the big engine. Comfortable and a good performer.

Generally reliable.

Looks horrible with little or no street cred.

Back seat is very spacious allowing all sorts to happen on it!!

The rear electric blind is magic concealing effectively whatever is going on on said back seat!!

Will miss it when it gets replaced by an Audi A8 or BMW 740.
