1998 Vauxhall Vectra GL Estate 1.8 petrol from Sweden

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

Nice car with superb handling and very good fuel consumption when cruising.

Only complain is about the lack of power in the highest gear.

1998 Vauxhall Vectra LS 2.0i petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

I really like the engine but the gearbox is on the clunky side. Handles like a dream on the motorway but not so cool around B road bends. ABS and Traction Control give you confidence while driving. I like it!

1998 Vauxhall Vectra GS Estate 1.8 GLS petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Faulty screen washer. Appalling mileage. Brake cable stretched.

General Comments:

This is "Cavalier" No. 5 and the worst so far. I drive around 1000 miles a week, and the economy is very poor, with 30 MPG max. I used to get over 40. This represents a lot of dosh. Colleagues have reported the same thing. OK, it's 16 valve and 200 cc more than the last Cavalier, but the performance improvement is marginal. All my previous Vauxhalls have been reliable and economical. This may be the last.

1998 Vauxhall Vectra CDX 2.5 V6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

The car pulls to the left, Vauxhall Dealers and ATS have tried to fix it but to no avail. After one more try I will be handing the keys back.

General Comments:

The Vauxhall Dealers have been less than helpful in helping me get this problem fixed so far.

The driving seat does not support you very well and it take a lot of fiddling around to get your legs supported by the seat, you have to compromise on the seat settings to get anywhere near comfortable. This car is basically a huge disappointment compared to the V6 Cavalier I had previously.

1998 Vauxhall Vectra DTI LS Estate 2.0 turbo diesel i/c from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing so far. Have only driven 200 miles!

Wrong sunvisors fitted (for LHD!).

General Comments:

VW complained about TDI designation, claiming trademark. GM had to drop TDI name and now call it DTI! Vast improvement on Isuzu 1.7TD and DI (non intercooled). Smooth and terrific lugging power. Slightly smoky on start up (winter?). Using Dieselclean. Economy mid 30's (engine still tight) around town. Ride better, esp over pot-holes etc. Underrated model; should improve with this engine!

1998 Vauxhall Vectra GLS 2.0i TDi 16v from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

This model is a joy to drive - very smooth, quiet and comfortable. It has super performance, too. Air conditioning as standard is a bonus. Good economy.

First Vectra we have puchased, but we have had Vauxhalls before (previously Cavalier 1993 1.7TD).
