I have an Sri 140 saloon S reg (1999).Great looking car and pretty fast. I have never had any problems with mine. Would recommend to anybody.

Just bought a Vectra SRI 140 Estate last week end and done 400 miles in the last three days, am very impressed with the road holding and ride. Is also a fast car for a large estate.

Even better when you whizz past the Saxo boys!!!

20th Feb 2006, 10:03

What engine type is this? its not the z20 range is it?

5th Mar 2006, 18:19

I had a vectra 1.8 GLS before.. Now I have a Vectra SRI 140 and I think it's a great car... better than any Mondeo... Very fast for a 2.0 litre...Its a Beautiful car

If buy another car is still going to b a Vectra...Wouldn't swap it for any other family car... Exellent car...

12th Mar 2006, 14:19

I've got a 1999 V reg SRi 140 ex Police car, It still drives great and looks nice too. I changed the cam belt myself in about 2 hours, most things are easily accessible. Well recommended...

19th Mar 2006, 08:37

I have a V reg SRi 140 and it is excellent nice comfy drive and can easily keep up with my old GSi 16v Astra recommend one anyday!

25th Jul 2006, 16:25

I used to have a standard Vectra 1.9, but I now have an SRi 140, and it's 100% quicker than the standard one, great car performance, 10/10. It's got a sporty look to it, and will whip any boy racers!!! And it's still a family car. This car is the best I've ever had.

8th Aug 2006, 18:56

You only have 140 bhp.

3rd Nov 2006, 08:46

A 140bhp Vectra SRi will NOT beat a Saxo VTS - I know, because I've been there!

25th Nov 2006, 11:51

I'm afraid the VTS will beat the 2.0 SRI 140. Its 140 PS, 134 BHP. But that's besides the point, the reason the VTS beats the vectra is sheer power to weight. The VTS hits 60 in 7.8 seconds, the vectra can't get near that. But it will probably beat the VTS's top speed, just.

25th Nov 2006, 18:32

I'm the person who wrote the comment on 3rd November 2006.

The VTS has 120-130bhp, so not far off the Vectra's 134bhp... but the Saxo is MUCH lighter, so it's easy to understand why the Saxo is a fair bit quicker from 0-60mph.

1st Mar 2007, 11:58

Want real speed. Try the Gallardo Spider. Now that's true speed. OK granted its not mine its my neighbours, but still it makes you realise what a true performance car is.

6th Oct 2007, 20:51

I am just in the process of buying a Vectra SRi 140 estate 99 model with 71000 miles. A very nice looking motor; can't wait to drive this car. What if any problems has anyone had with this model?

9th Oct 2007, 04:39

I have had an S plated Vectra SRi 140 for 4 years and this car is definitely not a quick car. I used to own a G plate Astra GTE 1.8 and that would blow it off the road. I have since bought a W plate Vectra GSi and run both the SRi and the GSi; no comparison whatsoever, the SRi is a milkfloat up against the GSi, but i use it for work as the fuel economy is excellent against the GSi. But I have to say a 16v F reg Astra GTE left me and my GSi in its in wake on a dual carriageway, but I did have a full boot; well that's my excuse!

10th Oct 2007, 02:45

You can't touch the Astra GTE, it's one rapid machine.

5th Feb 2008, 04:59

I have an N reg Vectra 2.0 sri, the 150bhp, and I have had nothing, but problems with it.

- Lambda sensor... twice

- Air flow meter

- Head completely rebuilt

- Tap-pits rattling

- Drinks oil.

I would not recommend these cars to anyone. The build quality is poor, parts are expensive, and they fall in value like a stone.

20th Feb 2008, 16:19

I own a Vectra SRi 140 and it goes like stink; it will easily see off any Saxo.

21st Feb 2008, 04:36

I've had a SRi 140, trust me it won't see off any Saxo. From a standstill a Saxo VTR would give you a good race, but a VTS would leave you standing, rolling the Vectra would beat the VTR, but still get left by the VTS, I've tested it; the SRi has 134bhp and a 0-60 time of 9.5 seconds. Your average 2.0 car is just as quick.

1st May 2008, 19:45

I think the little saxo is a great hairdresers car or for your first.

9th Aug 2008, 09:24

The sri 140 is an OK car but!! they do bloody drink oil anybody tell me why?

23rd Aug 2008, 03:39

I've just bought a Vectra SRi 140. I'm just wondering what I can do to make it faster, well faster than a Saxo VTS. Any ideas?

24th Aug 2008, 17:16

Sell it and get a GSi.

1st Sep 2008, 10:41

I have a 1999 T reg Vectra SRi 140 with 111k miles, it's perfect, runs perfect, does not knock on start, is as smooth as a babies bottom, doesn't use oil, and is a powerful thing.

Can anyone tell me how to get the bhp to around 170 ish, thanks Gaz.

6th Sep 2008, 14:54

I have an SRi 140 S reg. It sometimes over revs. Does anyone know why? Other than that, it's a great car.

24th Sep 2008, 15:29

I put it to you, all that said a Saxo will beat a Vectra SRI 140, that you are living on a planet far, far, faaaar from earth.

Until a year ago I raced stock cars for money down at my local circuit, and on circuits far and wide. Fractured a law or two in my time by doing the same on the Queens highway too.

I owned (and still do own the very same) V plate SRI 140. NEVER did ANY Saxo (VTS included) get anywhere close enough to even read my number plate.

NB to the ppl who asked why your Vectra uses oil - in 99% of cases your rocker cover gasket is weeping, common fault - easily and cheaply rectified.

27th Sep 2008, 16:30

Whats better, a 2.0i 16V SRI (140) or 1.8i 16v SRI (125)?

Both T reg 99?

I still miss my Cav V6?!?!?! I dunno what to buy, but I hear the 1.8 is quicker which I don't understand.

Any ideas people?

Chrz.

29th Sep 2008, 10:22

The 1.8 is not quicker. It weighs exactly the same as the 2.0 140 but with a smaller engine/less BHP. Get the SRI 140 (facelift model ie T Reg onwards) but avoid the new shape (2002>) its crap. Go buy one. Right now and let me know how it goes.

11th Oct 2008, 11:47

I just bought a 99 (V reg) Vectra SRi (140) with only 43k on the clock with FSH and only one owner for just £1200. It's mint.

It's not the fastest car, but it's got enough power, and it's got plenty of kit for the money.

30th Oct 2008, 14:22

You made a wise choice. The 140 is a damn good car, I still have mine to this day (see my previous comments) and refuse to get rid of it. I've blown the doors off many a car worth 20x the money in it. You just can't go wrong.

5th Nov 2008, 13:07

Hi, just got given a courtesy car which happened to be a 2.0 16v SRi Vectra. OK first thing, they're not too bad on speed. Main reason I want to put a comment on was I was reading a lot about people saying their Vectra is quicker than a VTS. I own a 106 GTi, which has the same engine as the VTS, and I can assure you I would absolutely delete any SRi Vectra without any worries.
