2001 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 1.8 turbo from North America

Summary:

Too expensive to fix. I hate Jettas

Faults:

This car is a waste of money. I paid $5600 and could only sell it for half, since the repairs are expensive. My head gaskets and water pump replaced cost more than my mortgage payments.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 from North America

Summary:

I wish I was the first owner

Faults:

When it rains, my EPC light comes on and then the engine starts shaking, then the car shuts off.

My driver seat is shaky.

When I hit the gas, my car misses.

My shocks recently blew.

My interior lighting and dimming turner just started smoking one night, and the interior lights by the gear lever, door, and radio don't work any more.

My rear wheels need alignment.

My front bumper is really shaky.

My radio/CD works whenever it wants to work.

My engine shakes/vibrates real hard sometimes.

One side of my glove compartment door broke.

The car had a big wear under the driver side floor carpet.

Machanics can never figure out the reason my check engine light is on.

General Comments:

My EPC light keeps coming on, and then something weird will happen to my car. Especially the engine or it shuts off.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta from North America

Summary:

Too bad to print

Faults:

This car has had all of the already mentioned problems, too numerous to remember and mention. The past 4 months it has taken $4,000 in repairs and still won't start intermittently.

VW should be sued by everyone who owns this terrible car. They know full well the problems they have and don't care.

Finally, I couldn't pay the monthly car payment because of all the repair bills. It got repossessed when the payment was one day past the 60 day point. I should have let them keep it, instead of retrieving it which cost more money. VW should have paid all my arrears payments because they knowingly sell these crap cars.

Me and my mother are practically homeless because of this piece of crap.

They just managed to make it drive smoothly and look good, long enough to sell thousands of them. I've not heard of one person who hasn't had all of the same problems. You might as well buy a BMW because it'll be a lot cheaper.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta Mexico 1.5 from North America

Summary:

Great cars

Faults:

Check engine light.

Crayon/leather smell.

General Comments:

So I just got this Jetta, and the first thing I notice is this funky smell. Two days later the check engine light came on.

The car is not new. I must add that not all Volkswagens have this smell. My brand new Golf did not have this smell. I also owned a 1994 Jetta GL (also used) that had this smell but very faintly.

However the Jetta has a great take off speed and handles pretty well, I loved both the 1994 and now the 2001. But I totally admired my Golf.

The VW service department however has a very good number of unqualified techs who more often than not will tell you something is normal, rather than taking the time to find and repair faults. I love VW cars, but I wish the service departments took as much pride in their work, as the great number of admant VW drivers take in their cars.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 from North America

Summary:

Sucks

Faults:

You name it, what a joke, still can't get someone to turn off the check engine light from 5 years ago.

This is the biggest piece of farfignugen I have ever bought. The dealer is the biggest crook; charges me than Volkswagen itself. This car is "vehicular suicide".

"Still smells like crayons". Also every time it is humid out, you get grease on your pants when you get out of the car "whatever" Just freakin walk.
