Very few faults.
Windscreen wiper blades needed to be replaced frequently.
Leak at the filler inlet of the petrol tank.
Replaced the battery (own fault).
A top little motor, if a bit scary with the brakes. The car never let me down at all and I was very pleased with the car during the time I owned it. I would strongly recommend this car to anyone.
One slightly off note, the VW dealers wanted to offer very little in trade in against a newer car whilst wanting to charge above average prices. I bought a Peugeot instead.
I bought a second hand Polo the same age as my parents polo (which they had from new). Unfortunately within a couple of months the engine ceased and I have since had a number of other faults. I think that this was most likely a fault of the previous owner!
