1995 Jeep Wrangler S from North America - Comments

"The one vehicle you will always be proud that you have owned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Replaced the top on it when I got it. The factory soft top had deteriorated and the windows had started to cloud up. Not bad for a six year old soft top at all.

General comments?

The Jeep is easily the sharpest ride on the road. When you buy one you become part of an exclusive club and are acknowledged by the rest of the Jeeps that pass you buy, along with other people that give you that knowing look on the road. A look that is nothing short of envy.

The cost of parts and servicing a vehicle like this are minimal compared to other vehicles. I replaced the entire interior (only because I wanted it to be a different color, not because there was anything wrong with it) for a little under $1000. That includes adding a console and sound bar, all new front and rear seats, new carpeting and new roll bar covers (and also the new top). What other vehicle can you get all that for under $2000, much less under a grand?

Haven't had the need for them yet, but other parts for it (engine, transmission, exhaust and every other mechanical part) are cheap as can be as well.

Overall, it is the greatest vehicle anyone can ever buy. The cost of ownership is peanuts and you can only be limited to where you can go by 10 foot reinforced concrete walls. Even then, your Jeep might be able to take it.

Excellent review! I absolutely agree with you! I also own a 1995 Wrangler YJ "S" model and absolutely fell in love with it the day I bought it! It's about to turn over 100,000 miles and I'm very confident it will go to 200,000 miles some day. It still looks like new, and runs like a dream, also in part because I'm a mechanic and know how to maintain it very well =) It is by far the most fun convertible anyone can ever own and definitely the most reliable, I've only replaced my exhaust and the radiator so far (I bought it at 62,000 miles), but other than that, it honestly runs likes it's brand new! I'd recommend this historic, "take the doors and top off ride" to anyone!! Jeeps rule, enjoy your YJ!! Jeepman95@msn.com.

These reviews are true and accurate. I also own a 94' Wrangler S that I picked up used a few years ago with the 2.5 and an automatic. Yes, it is slow, but, I put it in drive and off I go! Hills are, well a little bit of a challenge. On trails in the Eastern/central California this vehicle is right at home taking on almost any stump or rock. I visit the mountains on the weekends and still drive to work during the week in the flatlands. With 75k miles I also see that my radiator is going to need to be replaced soon. A cheap part ($200 if I buy it new). A mild lift of 3" and some 31 inch tires are a great ad on along with thousands of other aftermarket goodies. I strongly advise a hard top. It increases the vehicles value and makes it more enjoyable above 40 miles an hour. The paint and interior are like new thanks to prior owners taking care of it. This Jeep is one of the best if not the best second vehicle you can have in my opinion. I would buy another, but, it looks like this one will outlast me!!!

I'm a Jeep owner too, but I think you got a little carried away with "the greatest vehicle" ever made stuff. As well as the people looking at you with envy.

Jeeps are fun vehicles, don't get me wrong. In my opinion they are among the best SUVs available. But they are what they are, and "the greatest ever" claim might be a little over the top.

By the way, those who look at you with envy are probably between the ages of 16-21.

The little Wrangler probably is the "greatest" small SUV ever made. It certainly is the 1st ever produced.

It also is one of the most rugged vehicles ever produced,

and they are reliable. (I prefer the AMC designed YJ, but that's just my personal preference.)

I'm not sure about the "looks of envy", however almost everyone you talk to either has always wanted one or has owned one at some point.
