1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 from North America - Comments

"A Cheap ROCKET!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The suspension is to high, it ruins all the sports look of the Z24. I can enter a complete fist between the right tire and the car. (that's more like a stylish problem)

A weird noise coming from the transmission at 30-40 kph. (nothing important)

The floor mat stick under the clutch pedal after 3/4 days of driving, making it hard to pull out (the clutch).

Quite non-original plain dashboard and steering wheel.

The hand-brake handle is very badly placed.

The car speed is limited to 172 kph : (

General comments?

Since my engine is stock, I can really tell that this is quite a little rocket. I've beaten a lot of cars with it such as Sebrings LXi, Civics, GSR, '92 5.0l, etc..

Would be way more fun to drive with a supercharger tough...

The stock suspension gives good handling, but not enough for me. That's why I dropped it 2" with GoldLine Springs, which gives me a lot more better handling.

I always fueled it with 91 octane Supreme Fuel.

It has 150 HP at the wheels and 150lbs of torque.

You beat a 5.0l mustang with a z-24? Did he know you were racing him??

I agree, the 99 Z24 is a pretty quick car as is most of the larger cubic inch 4-bangers. I owned a 1999 cavalier z24 and it could beat most 6 cylinder camaro's and mustangs and it actually could keep pace with the great 5.0 litre mustang (which is not that fast of a car) the big thing with a stock mustang is it can be modified without much effort once it has left the factory. In review the 150hp cavalier @ 16000.00 is a much better deal than the $25000.00-$30000.00 mustang which in later years is really taking a beating due to the fact of quicker 4 cylinder imports and yes also domestic cars.

You guys are the kind of Nimrods we read about in the papers.

You know missed a turn while street racing, car split in two.

Friends go put flowers at the base of the tree that was hit.

Nice write up in the obituaries.

I hope the police catch all of you and shred your licenses,

before you kill yourselves and others.

There is no way a little Cavalier can out-run a 5.0 liter Mustang unless it wasnt racing you.

A Cavelier Z24 is the most crappiest car in the world. I have had experience with it and lost to a 90' Honda Prelude. The engine makes some messed up noice slowing down and the dash is cracked. The door is falling apart and the roof is leaking. plus.. it only hits 180 kp/h (atleast that's as fast as I went in it) and it has the worst acceleration. I could leave that thing in the dust with a 93' integra gsr. and just to tell you...5.0L mustangs are not fast... i smoked one with a 1988 honda accord 5spd. and he was giving all he had and I smoked it.

Mustang must have been running like a bag, or you only thought he was given er, I only say this because I can't think of any other way an 88 Accord could beat one, unless you got some extensive engine and drive train modifications.
