"We will never buy another Ford vehicle again!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

We bought the car at a Ford dealership with 27000 miles on it in October of 2000. The dealership did not disclose all the information about the car's history. We took the car in within a week for a few minor repairs at the same Ford dealership. The service technician told us, "We just replaced the transmission in this car a week ago". My husband and I were very upset that this information was not offered to us when we purchased our car.

In the past two and half years we have had several little problems with our car.

We are currently dealing with Rack and Pinion problems. We have been told that our car is to new for rack and pinion problems. This problem will cost us about 800.00 for a new rack and pinion, plus the cost of labor.

General comments?

Our plan is to trade in this car as soon as possible.

I work at a Ford dealer so I love reading comments like this. "I bought a used car still under warranty, saved a ton of money over new, drove 20,000 miles a year and after I reached 85,000 miles with only minor things going wrong, I have a steering part go bad. I will never buy another vehicle from this manufacterer." Dealers don't have to disclose if a warrantied item has been replaced and it sounds like you haven't had any problems with the transmission. I don't know why that would bother you especially when it was under warranty when you bought the car. Can't make everyone happy, but for a car you drive this much, sounds like it's been a pretty good deal for you. Just hope you stay a little patriotic and don't buy some import.

Only a Ford employee would stick up fot this car. Don't even compare this to the quality of an import.

My 99 Taurus Wagon RoXX!! I have had very little trouble with it, and I bought it second hand in 2000 (with a whopping 5132 miles LoL). It is almost hitting 40,000 now and it has had only minor problems. I think the difference is, I go to AutoZone and have them read the codes and then install the parts myself and save $$$. I did the cost of ownership per year on this vehicle and it is So Low!

Course, I have not driven it much at all, and that seems to make a huge difference on cars. My daughter has a 98 with around 90k miles and we have loads of fun working on it all the time. Especially if I pay!

Luck with your Fords - This is my 16th Taurus/Sable - but the only one I ever had to pay for.

My grandma has a 99 Ford Taurus. It has been in 2 wrecks and has not had hardly any of the problems the people on this site have. It had to have a speed sensor replaced, and that is about it. If your transmission has problems shifting or not shifting go have the speed sensor checked. I think it is all in the maintenance of the car.
