1993 Mazda Lantis R from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"This model has some serious potential"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Water pump was replaced after 1 week.

Rear left brake caliper was replaced after 2 weeks.

These problems were fixed at no cost to me.

General comments?

Great car to drive with added control due to the up-graded sports suspension.

However side-skirts and a boot spoiler would finish off the aero-dynamics of the car nicely.

Also a little flat in the lower revs, but picks up nicely after the fuel injection kicks in at 4000 revs.

Hey I own a 1994 Mazda lantis type r. 2.0 ltr v6 5 spd manual.

I have to say very nice car very quick. that lag you talked about until 4 grand that is when 1 of these 2 valves open up on the inlet manifold I think 1 opens at 3,250 rpm and the other just over 4,000 rpm. when I first got my car they didn't work a hose from inlet manifold was broken and blocked off. I repaired hose and they make a huge difference to the cars performance. If you have a look on the back of the inlet close to the firewall you will see them rev the car from under the bonnet and you can watch them open and close. If they don't you should have it looked at as it makes a big difference to performance.

My car has this guys signature on it, its on the rear or the car and on all four centre caps of the mags, TOMI KAI RA. if anyone knows what this means please let me know. I know a little bit, but not as much as I would like to no. Thank you.

Tommy Kaira is a Japanese tuner company. They have been around since the 80s I think. They also have made racing cars and I mean the full deal with aluminum space-frames and all. From what I hear they're quite reputable so I think you're really lucky mate. Cheers!

I'm a happy owner of a Lantis Type R in France. I got it 10 years before and it haves now 170.000km without any problem.

This car is not common in here (150 sold) and many people still watch and listen at it.

The design is beautiful, the small V6 wonderfull for a small size car. This car is perfect and I don't want sell it. I think i'll put a KLZE inside when my KF will die. I'll do all for keep it all my life, like a museum keeper.
