2005 Proton Waja 1.6 MT from Malaysia - Comments

"Waja... could be a malaysian sportcar"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

General comments?

The car is great and it can drift and turn at the speed of 70 km/h without skidding and the brakes are great... it can accelerate fast and the rpm and gear response are quick... it's possible to do a j turn with a Waja...

I drove my 2005 Waja at the speed of 170 km/h without any problem... If Proton created a Waja with a turbo, DOHC engine, 16" disc brakes, 17"sport rims 215/45R17, ABS and sport springs it would be a MOST WANTED Proton car in the world.

You have to custom made bolt on turbo...i have used the bolt on turbo kit for quite long now... with 4G18 SOHC engine using greedy emanage, custom made stainless stell piping, aftermarket BOV, TD04HL twin fin, VR 4 Intercooler,Custom made Fuel Pressure Regulator,...All inside in original SOHC 4G18!!! boost at 0.5 bar... almost two great years now... MALAYSIA BOLEH...!!!now increase to 140hp on wheel... not bad for std 1.6 SOHC mitsu 4G18!!!

TRUE TRUE TRUE... many waja NEED TURBOCHARGER due to its WEIGHT OVER SPEED RATIO...it's a HEAVY CAR... with STD 1.6 engine... at least you need 2.0 to smooth its move... but TURBOCHARGER CAN HELP!!!

Wow.that must be powerful car. Need lots of modification. By the way, saw earlier comment when you mentioned drift, does it apply to front wheel drive car like Waja?.

Proton Waja can drift??? A front wheel car can drift??? Seriously you must be joking. I think you mean power-slide dude. Waja's a nice car except for the cheap plastic interior and lousy door handles which is common among all Protons.

Drift in other words known as "go with the flow" meaning, let the car slide and the driver only need to control the car properly using steering, hand brakes, brakes, gas pedal or related matter.

It does not work for front wheel drive because the driver force to make the car go sideway.

For me the proper word to use is in this case is either controlling under-steer or over-steer.

Yes, WAJA can drift! just look at Tengku Djan Ley Waja's... it's overwhelming! although he using RB20 engine (nissan) and convert from FF to FR, it's still a WAJA...
