I purchased the car 6 months ago. It is female driven and according to the dealership, the engine has a defect and they have ordered a new motor.
The car has 6000 miles.
The dealer won't offer any special trade or replacement vehicle other than the norm.
Mazda customer service offers no apology and will not make any offer to trade or replace vehicle.
Mazda won't give GM's name and has told me that I have to deal with the dealership. No return phone calls from Mazda as requested.
Don't buy Mazda. I don't think all of their cars are bad. If you purchase a $34,000 car and it fails in 6000 miles, (female driven) They should at least apologize and be willing to do something for the consumer other than order a new motor. Make an offer to get me into a new vehicle.
All Mazdas aren't bad cars, beware if you have a problem.
Why would they offer to get you a new vehicle when your new motor is (hopefully) covered under warranty?
Absolutely- Mazda is just honouring the stipulated warranty. How on earth can you give Mazda a pasting for doing the right thing? The dealer service department found a glitch with the engine/powertrain, obviously not able to be fixed. Therefore, a new motor has been ordered under warranty. Be thankful that you haven't bought a Ford or GM product, my friend. You'd be having a hell of a time trying to get a response as satisfactory, unless you consider warranty denial campaigns and other blatant lies to be justifiable.
Yeah, I wish Jaguar, another Ford brand, would take a lesson here from Mazda and realize that it is OK to 'fess up if there is a glitch instead of telling all of their customers that the cars are perfect in every way even after the engine has to be replaced due to faulty timing chain tensioners. And what about all of those "silent" recalls?!! It makes me want to go straight to the Mazda place for a better, more practical car that would really be sportier to drive. My advice would be to stick with Mazda models that use Mazda engines instead of Ford engines.
I fail to see what you are complaining about? They are replacing the engine, most manuf would not. And what's all this female driven drivel? What's THAT mean?
Don't you guys know, women are superior to men in almost every facet of life. I presume that includes proper care and feeding of automobiles. I'll bet she actually meant that the car was driven gently, as opposed to your (and my) testosterone induced charges down the on-ramp.
Seriously, I just bought a 6s with the 6-speed auto. It's a wonderful car, nice handling and plenty of acceleration. I know the 6 cylinder gets panned for lack of power, but I think it's nicely matched to the vehicle. Bought a new one after driving a similarly equipped used 6 with 43,000+. Both cars were very tight with no squeaks or rattles.
Just incase you guys didn't know mazda is owned by ford.. these cars are made in the United States in FORD facilities using FORD parts.. just an FYI.
To the guy above me... these cars are engineered in Japan. The Engine is the Mazda Z (which Ford even liked better than its crappy "zeta zetec" engine, then took the Mazda design and called it Duratec). It's only assembled in America for the North American market... elsewhere it's assembled in Japan.
BTW: Mazda developed the CD3 Platform which the car is built on... Ford STOLE it and is now using it in its own Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, MKX, and a bunch of other cars. Pathetic. Just Pathetic.
Also ****Ford DOES NOT OWN MAZDA***... they simply have a 33% stake in it.
Female driven explains enough for me. hahahahaha the glitch was in the driver's seat!
Having endured the sufferings of a ''brand new'' lemon, I sympathize with that woman... I am currently leasing a Mazda 3 with the Mazda 6 4 cyl in it (GT) I just love it, I'm not sure what i will do with the 6, which will replace my other car...4 CYL or 6...dunno.
Its true, Ford acquired its stake in Mazda in the early 1980s when they realised that the Japanese automotive force would make huge waves in the future, and as the knowledgeable person above mentioned - they have been feeding off them ever since.
Female driven? what sort of generalization does that evoke? Does that mean it has been driven with a degree of disregard for and a lack of understanding of the technical aspects involved with motor vehicles?
FORD DOES OWN MAZDA I know I helped design the 3 which is based on the Volvo s4 platform and shares with it's sister the focus... so get over it... By the way I own a Mazda 6 and it sits just as pretty next to my 06 Range Rover aslo owned by Ford... I love the 6 and it is amazing.
I have a mazda6 2006 and it had 27,000 and at 32,000 my transmission gave and at 34,000 I had a miss-fire that made my cat. converter give and my transmission went again. so that's two bad tranys and a miss fire bad cat and not to mention the wheel bearing and two engine mounts that where also replaced don't know if the car was abused before I got it, but I'm very good with my car. bad 1st owner I guess, but why would my trany go the second time its new.
FORD DOES OWN MAZDA PEOPLE!! Another instance a Ford Ranger/Mazda Pickup, same truck different front end.
In no way does Ford own Mazda! As a previous poster stated, it has a 33%, or, to be more precise, a 33.3*% stake in Mazda. This is more than ample for Ford to have a "controlling interest" in Mazda. "Controlling interest" does in no way mean Ford owns Mazda. It means that Ford has enough of a stake to have a strong say in how things are done and organised, parts sharing, design, etc.
In regards to the comment regarding the Ford Ranger, and the Mazda BT-50 being the same, apart from the front end, that's correct. This is commonly referred to as "badge engineering," meaning that one complete car can be badged as a different marque. An example of this is the Ford Laser/Tracer, and the Mazda 323. The car is actually a Mazda 323, but is "badge engineered" as a Ford, with visual differentiation, like front and rear end treatment, etc.
I hope this clarifies things.
The Mazda SUV and the 6 are the only cars that are manufactured in the states! The rest of the Mazda line are built in Hiroshima.
