Problem with automatic transmission that dealer can’t seem to find fault.
Random service warnings appear on dashboard display.
Rear light lenses fogged up.
Remote radio control stuck.
I have had the car over a year now from new, and I was more or less pleased with it until last week. I was driving on the slip road about to join the motorway, when all of a sudden the car made a loud bang and the car came to a quick and immediate stop. The car behind almost crashed into the back of my car, but luckily the driver was able to avoid hitting me. It was a very scary experience. The car was immediately towed to Renault, where they said they couldn’t find a fault with the transmission. However I still get a warning message on the dashboard that’s say’s “Check Gearbox”. I am no longer confident in driving this car, yes it does have a five star safety rating, one of the reasons why I got it, but I don’t want to be putting that to the test. I have lost all confidence in Renault, their products and their dealers.
What a shame. These cars are supposed to be resurrecting the reputation of Renault. It sounds like the gearbox seized momentarily although I find this hard to imagine from a technical angle.
I have had the car just over 2 years now and have just paid nearly a thousand euro to fix the suspension!!!

That's the problem with the stupid automatic gearboxes we are seeing these days... the ones from Renault are not the best ones out there, but there are other car makers that are having serious issues with the gearboxes they are putting in smaller cars... too complicated, flimsy, packed with smart technologies, but too easy to break.
