I have a C180 Kompressor Classic SE registered 2003. Initial problems with the engine cutting out and not restarting have been rectified, but now I have a problem with the vehicle stalling intermittently on deceleration, seemingly when the tank is about quarter full. Any ideas anybody. MB say there is nothing wrong.

I own a 1995 mercedes c180 elegance, the car has been running with me for 2 years. It has on it 104,000kms (geniune). The car seems to have all the problems listed from the window scratches, drop in power when the temp goes up, difficulties in starting in the cold and the lights, the could be really annoying.
I found solutions to some problems, as for the power drop with heat, I changed what they call a temp. adjuster, I also got it installed a new pumber with foglamps (AMG model), had to replace the whole body trim. as for starting in winter I had to put a differnt temp. adjuster, so ended up with two adjusters, one for summer and one for winter.
Now the problem I am facing is mainly in the petrol consumption, anyone with any idea..

Hey Guys, You all have happy smiley faces saying the car is so reliable and so on. Why do you all mark the C class Merc high when these cars sound like junk with all the problems. You don't get any of these problems with the BMW 318i of the same vintage, even with high mileage.
I have a 2003 C180 Kompressor that has been a problem car from the start. I had a cylinder head change instructions from Mercedes Benz S.A. luck was on my side they paid for it. Since then I have been paying and paying. the problem is since the head change due to our fuel here in South Africa I have taken this vehicle back to the dealership over the past 3 1/2 years FIFTY times. It seems every time the car seems to be going well something must happen. what happens is firstly the ESP light comes on and the car is running fine. after that the Engine Management light comes on and with that I call MBSA. vehicle is taken in and sorted out, but not without my payment. Two days later same thing again. This has been a re-occurance as mentioned FIFTY times. Are our mechanics not up to date when it comes to locating and repairing the C180. This vehicle has had a new Catalytic converter fitted because of this problem and I was assured that the problems had been sorted out. after a trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg and a few short trips the problem has returned. Now a dealership want payment AGAIN for a problem that has occurred every month since I purchased the vehicle. What am I to do any suggestions. this being my second and last Merc I'll ever purchase again. Mark.
Hi, my Mum has a 1995 C180 Auto, with 179k (km) on the dial. The car has outstanding Benz dealer service history and runs very well, except for a noticeable, but moderate 'jolt' when one engages either 'D' or 'R' moving from park. I have been told that this is either the bands in the auto box that need tightening or perhaps the tailshaft coupling, though I doubt the latter as you can't hear a knock when you lift your foot off the pedal whilst coasting. The worst perspective I have heard is that the 'box is on it's way out, though again, I doubt that as there are no leaks and shifts are fine, both up and down. Any ideas? Cheers!
I had a serious problem when the bearing in the RF wheel of my 180 Mercedes Classic melted down on to the stud axle. The wheel almost came off and I had to pull in suddenly as I was losing control. There was smoke coming from the wheel and the dust cover was blown right off. The wheel was almost dislodged. Can anyone tell me the cause of the problem?
I love driving the C180 Elegance I've just bought.
My biggest problem is the fuel gage, it moves haphazardly, sometimes full when the tank is about half full etc.
The two 'gages' in the tanks has been changed and also the 'monitor'/panel on the dashboard, all to no avail.
Please help for another Auto-Electrician is about to work on it. Thanks. fredabbeyk@yahoo.com.
I have a C180 and I can hear a watery swishing sound on the front passenger side. Behind the carpet where the immobilizer is, the back of the carpet is wet. Has anyone come across this problem and knows where the water is coming from?
Rainwater is collecting behind the dashboard because of the righ-side drain-pipe (under the hood) is clogged by dirt. If you do not open this drain the whole floor in the front at the right side will get soaked. I had this problem twice and now check the drain regurlary.
