Original author here again!
I was just checking a rival website for car reviews and it dawned on me that I haven't checked here for ages. Whaddya know!? 5 more comments. I damn sure should have started a pay-per-comment because maybe it would keep away some of the rudeboys without anything interesting to say!
Just to update you: I have changed it for a Mazda MX5 2.0 Sport. Yes I know. Hairdressers' cars both. You know what else? I couldn't care less. Whilst you may think driving certain cars makes you "cool" (I'm not singling any car out), I disagree. Driving is about making you feel good and smile. Both did/do that.
Whilst I can't say I regret buying my MX5 because it is great in areas that the Puma sucked at (like interior quality and residuals) it honestly isn't that much better than the Puma. If anything the rear wheel drive limits the amount of laughs you can have in it in the wet (i.e. a typical British day...). I don't think that is because the MX5 is bad (although apparently it is not quite as good as the old one [which given that the old one is regularly voted the best car ever, it comes as no surprise]) but because the Puma really was an absolute barrel of laughs!
In other words, I agree with the previous comment. I really believe that the Puma will become a classic and it would not surprise me at all if I buy another one a few years down the line!
Interesting Read.
Puma is a fantastic car and some of these claims probably are true, some are definatly not.
In my experience with my Puma it can easily beat certain cars in certain conditions.
4x4's it usually leaves standing expect going over speed bumps!
It beat my mates Skyline around town with loads of roundabouts (possibly his driving skills??) but lost easily on the straights.
It pretty much matched and beat my other mates Mondeo 2.5 v6 in almost every criteria.
In general what I love about the Puma is its different. Okay a GT version of a standard car is nice, but the looks are still very similar (just chaved up a bit).
OK. I think the lesson of this extremely long story is that you shouldn't lie. People won't belive you. I've heard so much rubbish on here and I can't help, but feel a little insulted when told my 52plate 330 ci bmw is only just a match for a puma. Not to mention all the other cars on here that apear to be running on some magic fuel. Everyones car always seem to go better than anyone else's. Interesting that.

I totally agree with the comment above.
The dude who said his puma was out performing an M3, is he mad?
What do you guys know and think of an astra 2.0l turbo bertone convertable 200bhp? I have one, running stage 2. It's now 266 bhp 0-60 6.1 seconds. Who thinks their car is faster?
Aaron Parsons.
Really surprised with 266bhp that your 0-60 is only 6.2 seconds. how much does your car weigh? its just I have a honda integra type r JDM spec that started life with 197bhp with a kerb weight of 1060kg and a 0-60 of 6.2 now with just over 300bhp turbo conversion if I can get grip I must be into the early 5 second crowd now (not tested tho so just guessing)

Hello Mr Type R JDM Spec, I think the reason the 0-60 is in the high end of 6 seconds is down to the turbo lag after 60mph its like a rocket, I've had 147mph back from bluewater, but ran out of road.. Hay your car sounds good, if your running 300bhp I would say your looking at 5.5 seconds 0-60. any less and that's a bonus. What do you think of all this crap about the ford puma lot? I had a ford ka 2002 with a low pressure turbo only 120 bhp 0-60 in 8.5 sec, but that would p8ss over any puma any day.
Ye puma is a warm hatch it looks OK, but doesn't have any serious grunt to it, even the racing model with 150bhp is quite slow. read some of the reviews on here even the owners are saying so.
The Puma is a nice-ish looking car that is true.
I think the biggest mistake Ford made was not thinking about it enough! I think the Ford Puma could have been a great car.
You think about it, if they had made this car in a 1.8 sport and a 2.0l turbo the Puma might have gone down in history, just like the FORD MEXICO.XR2I XR3I AND THE DADDY OF ALL FORDS THE RS COSWORTH! But as it stands the Puma is the same as a bottom of the range Vauxhall Astra!
Sorry to have to say that.

Hey all- have been driven about in a mates puma, it is like a little go cart. Excellent fun. I'm a big lad (6ft5) so it's a little cramped for me tho!
I personally drive a 2.2 mk astra sri, with superchip, and a few little tweaks to the engine and handling side. Have to say I can keep with the puma in most situations- this may be down to my pals driving skills tho!
Oh and have just test driven a Porche Carrera T.T. Sex on wheels! Just got to find 55k now!
I don't know what to say anymore, I think most of the claims to the Ford Puma are untrue. E. G The one were the M3 could not keep up with the Puma round the track! And the one were the skyline could not keep up round the bends. The most funny one is the above comment, the dude that says his 2.2 sri with super chip and handling extras can keep up in most situations with a Ford Puma! Course it can! If he could not than he (1) can't drive (2) has a problem with his car!. I had a Ford KA with a turbo conversion with 120bhp now that could go round corners fast once did a round about @ 40mph. But no way in the world would it have beaten an M3 or a Skyline or even an astra 2.2 sri with super chip. Has any one got anything to say to this e-mail? Like I said in my other comments the Puma is an OK car handles good looks nice. I drive the Astra Turbo Convertible 266 bhp. This is going back to standard next week for insurance reasons, does anyone want to challenge me to a race round a track in the summer. And we could put all this crap to bed once and for all!

Yes Mr 300 BHP Puma man of corse you can play. With that sort of power you can play with the new EVO X and most WRX STI'S.
Not for one minute do I think otherwise, sounds fast.
The point is to read what I have typed, and respond to it. not just wright 2 lines about a 300 bhp puma. Please can someone just read what I have typed and comment, Mr 300 bhp Puma man, I want to talk about your Puma, but please just read what I have typed and tell me what you think? remember 99.9% of pumas are not 300 bhp.

Also to test cars and to put things to bed! thay must be standard! so Mr 300 bhp Puma man you can play, but you can't if you know what I mean.
Aaron Parsons (A D P)
Ford Pumas are c**p. End of story, OK, they are good as a run about, but that's about it, stop playig with the little boys, grow up and get yourself something serious... Only good fords are, GT and Mustang and possibly a couple of the cosworths. Anything else, bin it and get a proper car, Astra 2.0T is fine, skylines, evos (FQ's) bm330's upwards you know the score. its called a girly name for a reason, I mean puma, for god sake, what a heap of C**p!
