The wagons had the 307 Olds V8. Smaller valves and swirl-port heads make this engine sleepy compared to the 305 Chevy.

GM installed the Oldsmobile 307 V-8s in the STATION WAGONS... the sedans came with the Chevrolet small-block (usually a 305) --- a far superior engine... And the '89s came with fuel injection... which beats those "electronic carburetors" totally --- I get 21 mpg in the city with my '89 (w/ 305 Chevy motor).
