I owned a 1976 Civic and it was the rustiest car that I have ever owned. The front fenders were both replaced with new ones, but they both rotted out again fairly quickly. Honda uses a lot of recycled old tin in their cars and it shows. They all had serious cancer issues and that's why you don't see many survivors. If you lived in the desert, then maybe the actual car could last long enough for you to get to 500,000 miles, but trust me the majority of them died a horrible death long, long before that.
