This will depend on the tax rate in the state you live in. In some states it could be lower than $1000, and in many (such as Virginia) it could be much more due to outrageous registration fees.
Also, if I were paying $10,000 for a sporty car, I'd go with a used Mustang. My past experience with Mazda has been very bad. My current Mustang has been flawless.

Only you can answer that question. What is your state's sales tax? Here in Massachusetts it's 6.25%. If I bought a car for $10,000, the sales tax would be an additional $625. Your tax may be lower or higher, depending on your state's sales tax.
