1993 Geo Metro review from North America
"Reliable and inexpensive to keep"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
There was a fuel injector problem that was computer related and easily (but not cheaplly) fixed.
I had a clutch-related problem, but the clutch has not needed to be replaced yet!
Both inside door handles have broken.
The antenna broke off.
My gas pedal sticks.
My gear box is going.
Other physical things seem to be falling off as the car gets older. Everything seems to be made and fastened together with plastic.
General comments?
This car runs like a charm and is one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. The engine seems to want to run on forever!
The gas mileage is great. For three years I drove from Boston to New York and back weekly and used 3/4 of a tank each way (8-gallon tank.)
I can park it anywhere, which in New York City is ver important. The draw back is the inside is very small.
It does not handle very well in bad weather, despite good tires.
Change your oil like clockwork, every 3,000 miles, and perform other maintainance like trasmission fluid changing, air filters, tune-ups, etc. and this car will treat you well.
