1994 Geo Metro Base Model 2D Hatchback review from North America
"Great car for what it is; very reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front Wheel bearings seized around 100k.
A/C Compressor died around 105k.
Window problems; both front windows fall off track, had to replace driver-side track.
Door handles/locks aren't the best.
Key broke off in 1) rear hatch, 2) driver door, and 3) ignition. (everything works fine with the half key that I have, or any other key...)
Hood flew off car on highway...
Burns Oil.
Hatchback falls on my head when I least expect it...
Normal issues with brakes, belts, etc.
General comments?
Great car. Lots of little issues that give you a headache for a day or two, but you get used to the little thing.
It has some good pep. Off the line it's pretty quick for what it is. It's shaky at high speeds on the highway, but it's completely acceptable.
Gets blown around in the wind a bit.
Throw some front chains on the little thing and you rule in the snow. I used this car for snowboarding trips for the last few seasons and while my pals Jeeps were stuck in the driveway my Metro easily plowed up and out of the driveway in all weather (with chains..).
After my A/C compressor died I realized that the two back windows (Hatchback model) can easily be popped out (3 screws) and makes it a cool ride...
