2002 Audi A4 review from Australia and New Zealand
"My dream car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
I made a decision that I was going to indulge myself and get a car that I really wanted – no compromises. I spent lot of time and effort researching what car I was going to buy and opted for the Audi because of its reputation, style and equipment. I ended up getting the 2.4 V6 with the multitronic transmission.
I do a lot of country driving, often 300 to 600 kilometers a day on indifferent Australian roads. The A4 has met all my expectations: it is surprisingly economical, handles well, cruises at the speed limit (actually some way above) in a relaxed way. I especially love the transmission, it gets off the mark quickly and then when it has reached cruising speed goes back to 1800 revs. On the windy roads I use the 6-speed semi automatic which makes the driving fun.
My only reservations are very minor. It uses a more oil than I expected. On one long trip the ‘low oil’ light came on and now I carry a liter bottle with me all the time.
Overall, I just love it!
