2002 Audi A4 from North America

Summary:

Awful!!!

Faults:

So I'm driving on the highway. The oil light comes on. I stop the car and put more oil into it, as the dipstick was broken and I could not check the oil level. I start driving and the light comes on again. I drove the car for about 15 minutes to my mechanic. He said my motor was DEAD!

There was scum blockage in the hose going from oil to the motor. Online it says the Audi A4 is susceptible to this. How is it that an Audi is susceptible to such a huge problem! I was shocked. Now I have to pay to replace a motor in a car I've had for less than 2 years. The car is 2002 and I am the 2nd owner. Why was this car so much money when it is a piece of crap? I had many other cars before and never did I have an engine problem. Wow. I am out of words for this.

Engine? I don't know Km? not mentioned.

Will you by another car from this manufacturer? You don't know.

I suppose you do not know much of the car's history, nor which kind of engine oil was used.

Why not go to another technician before believing what the first one said...

2002 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T from North America

Summary:

Like life. Has its bads and its goods

Faults:

The car never tells you I am OK, you can drive me.. There is always a problem, with me first was the exhaust leak. Afterwards, malfunction indicator lamp, then the air bag sensor, and last, which is now, both malfunction indicator lamps, then the air bag sensor, and I just got it from the dealer yesterday after they took about 700 dollars for service and maintenance.

General Comments:

The car is fast, smooth and really fun to drive.

2002 Audi A4 Front Trak, Sport Pkg 1.8T from North America

Summary:

Great car, but expensive to own

Faults:

Fuel pump.

Seat back pocket popped out.

Exhaust weld broke.

3 coil packs.

Wheel bearing.

Coolant sensor.

General Comments:

This is one of the best driving cars I've ever owned. It is truly a pleasure to drive. After the 50,000 mile full service warranty ran out, I have not been back to the dealer for any of the listed repairs required. I do all repairs myself (including the timing belt) just so I can afford to drive this thing. Dealership parts and labor charges are in the stratosphere.

With over a 100K miles, the car still looks great and drives like the day I got it. If you aren't handy with tools, consider another manufacturer since the A4 is otherwise an expensive machine to maintain.

2002 Audi A4 A4 1.8T from North America

Summary:

A piece of junk

Faults:

The car is a piece of junk.

So far I have replaced brakes, brake pads, an oil sludge engine, oil leak, transmission fluid leak, and check engine light is on always.

Window clickers have worn bad.

Break fluid always needs flushed

General Comments:

The car handles well, other than everything breaks on it.

2002 Audi A4 Quattro turbo from North America

Summary:

Fun, fast, pretty, unreliable

Faults:

Clutch went out, power steering is a constant problem, A/C went out.

General Comments:

Excellent and fun car to drive, but breaks a lot, and is expensive to keep up with.

Very beautiful and flashy, but, again, not worth all the upkeep.

I'm poor because of this car. But I love it too much to give it up.

It's a love/hate relationship.

2002 Audi A4 1.8 turbo from North America

Summary:

Beware of faulty engine. Don't buy this model

Faults:

Clutch went out at 65,000 miles and cost $1,000.

Rear Window puller levy broke at 68,000 miles.

Glove box fell apart at 72,000 miles.

O2 Sensor went out at 80,000 and possibly the cat. converter.

Engine threw a rod at 87,000 due to "oil sludge" problem which is apparently a defect in that model, but instead of doing an engine recall, they implemented a "warranty". I just changed the oil... there's oil in the car. There are so many loopholes, it is almost impossible to get Audi to pay for the $7,000 engine.

General Comments:

I would never purchase another one. My car is sitting in a different city right now with a blown engine and has under 100,00 miles. In the mean time, I'm driving my dad's 1996 Ford F150 with 260,000 miles and it runs a lot better than my Audi A4...
